I will give you a perfect example. The whole 1st half CC jammed Venneman at line w a safety over top. In the 2nd quarter Highlands ponder the right side of the CC dline and either dialed up a bad blitz or the safety got caught looking in the backfield on the play action bc Venneman didn't get jammed and no one was there when he broke for the pylon. Facing that many plays fatigues you and causes blown assignments and a D1 QB will take full advantage.

I have posted on BGP several times, that CCH Dixie score is very deceiving. Moore missed several wide open receivers and had a really bad game throwing the ball. I believe I saw that the yardage in that game was pretty even. That game was a much more evenly competed game on the field than the score shows.

Birds had 537 yards of offense. Birds scored on 4 straight trips in 2nd half.

 

Hoge 16/23 221 yards. 47 yds rushing.

The Highlands speed and conditioning were the two things I thought to be keys. The offensive line played superbly and very disciplined.

 

Hoge is such a mature QB who stays in the pocket until the last second ans when he runs the defenders simply bounce off of him. His strength has really improved along with his accuracy. Clearly he is the best QB in NKY.

I played on the 2005 and 2006 football teams at CCH. Our defense constantly were having to deal with our offense putting us in bad positions. We always played a top level of defense. It didn't matter if we played against Moeller or Grant Co.

This game was a totally pathetic showing on the part of the CCH offense. Game in a nutshell.

Tonight, however, not only did the CCH receivers not know how to line up, but the center snapped the ball over Wagner's head (a la Peyton Manning in last year's Super Bowl. Conincidentally, same result). Nothing anyone can blame for that but lack of preparation.

From what I know, it was OVER preparation. Paralysis by analysis and a week of rough practices.

It was like they gave up at halftime....must have been a heck of a halftime talk by the coaches to get them ready to go in only a 2 score game...they came out ready to call it a night in the final 24. I'm not sure they'll beat Beechwood after this.

I think they were overanalyzing. Maybe some of the boys in the stands should play for Cov Cath. I admire their passion. Truly animated fans.

And that is the coaches' responsibility. It was as if two different teams came over from Park Hills... Defense-ready; Offense-TOTALLY unprepared.

I think we're overstating how well CCH D played. They played poorly.

 

No pressure when Hoge passed. Runners getting downhill before first contact. Poor tackling. Poor coverage by LBs on passes. DBs completely confused on long TD pass.

 

Yes, CCH O didn't help the cause but , to be frank, the D stunk it up and my guess is they'll be the first to say that.

 

HHS simply did whatever they wanted to do.
