The question I ask everyone, Why can't CCH compete against Highlands on the varsity level?

I've said it for years, and it's even more true after tonight... Highlands doesn't beat you, they make you beat yourself.

 

Heroic effort on the part of the CovCath defense. Three goal-line stands in one half of football. That is usually unheard of in an entire game (rarely happens in two games put together). Trouble is, you can't leave your defense on the field an entire game's worth of time in one half and expect them to have any gas in the tank in the second half.

 

This game was won and lost (as most games are) on the line, both offense and defense. 'Birds blew CCH offensive line 3 yards into the backfield from the first play. Offensive line put CCH defensive line back on linebackers' feet so that tackles were being made 5-6 yards off the ball.

I'm liking what I hear about the O-line! I expected them to gel by the end of the year but it sure sounds like they're getting there a lot sooner than I expected. Coach Turner is a stud!

Is there a lot of of carry over from Dale's staff to the current staff at Highlands?

I'm really not trying to start a fight, but you've been following my conversations with the 6A stuff with certain other fans. That's what 6A is. I hate to say it.

 

One game doesn't say anything about a district being bad as a whole. Anything can happen in a game; nothing's guaranteed.

Due to the amount of snaps Highlands makes you play, it wears you out. Add the extra emotion of the game, the extra effort on the goal line so many times, you just get exposed

Well I tried to give CCH the credit this year and actually thought this might finally be their year. Boy was I wrong.

 

Highlands has CCHs number and it's not close. I was rooting for CCH this year to prove me

#50 is SR Lou Bunning. Out of football for a few years with a concentration on baseball, I understand he returned for his SR yr to help the team, his friends and his school. I made the same comment during the game - huge chunks of yardage over the left side. Good story for a good kid.

 

Lou is a GREAT kid. Really happy for him and his family.

And it's funny, the coaches were coming off the field the other day after practice and I asked them how they were doing (the line coaches), and they were complaining about them not being tough enough yet. They were still soft.

I understand HHS was dominating but I just can't reconcile what I'm hearing about CCH tonight to what they did to Dixie. Particularly given how well Dixie has done since that game.

 

I have posted on BGP several times, that CCH Dixie score is very deceiving. Moore missed several wide open receivers and had a really bad game throwing the ball. I believe I saw that the yardage in that game was pretty even. That game was a much more evenly competed game on the field than the score shows.

I'm not necessarily saying that, I get it. But Cov Cath beat them 41-7. I think there is a little you can take from that. And a 1-5 Ryle almost took down the champ tonight. I'll stop on here.
