Does it say you have to match the funds to receive the 200k?

Yes - it was one of the requirements stated on the foundation website

To all of my Holy Cross friends: I ain't mad at ya over one poster.

I am actually not a Holy Cross person and have no affiliation. I just pay close attention to the small schools and Holy Cross struck my fancy this year. That's not really paying off right now but we'll see if it does in districts. Same for NewCath but that's another conversation. I still stand firm on my disdain for CovCath. Always go with the underdog.

Why all the hate towards the bengals? My understanding, this is granted thru the NFL but the school has to be in proximity of an NFL franchise.

Man, 10 pages of threads on this, all because CCH has some hard working people who took the time to write the grant application and see it through. What's next, criticizing the dedicated people that run the bingo for CCH that raises money for them? The fact is that CCH has a slew of dedicated volunteers who continually go above and beyond to better the school with no thanks necessary. You can go back to when the original football field was built many years ago if you want, almost entirely built and paid for by volunteers. This is just a continuation of the efforts of many CovCath volunteers/donors that have gone before and the ones that will come after the people doing it now. Kudos to the people who were able to obtain the grant, which is another piece of the puzzle solved. Some great things coming for CCH soon hopefully.

Tilting at windmills.

"The man" isn't trying to keep you, or anyone else, down. He / they just aren't.

I try to avoid engaging high school kids.

Those with a problem had just as much of an opportunity as CovCath to fill out the necessary paperwork to be considered. If you didn't complete the paperwork you have no reason to complain.

Some of the comments in this thread are truly eye opening.

Ok, I've said what I needed to say. Once again good job CCH for not sitting on your rear ends and going out to find money! While others are too comfortable in a welfare state and just want money to be thrown at them without lifting a finger.

Last time for me in this thread as the conversation got even more ridiculous, if that was even possible.

My last word in here: RIF

I try to avoid engaging high school kids.

I just hope they are high school kids, if not god help us

All this arguing and, in a nutshell, it comes down to this. The wannabe cake-eaters, or junior cake-eaters if you will, beat the system again. The claims of poverty by CovCath supporters is a joke. They beat the system like they always do. With influence and manipulation. The Bengals give that money to whoever they want and CovCath has the tools in place to steal it away from schools that deserve it. That money should have gone to an organization that rightfully deserves it and doesn't have the boosters involved who have the means to write a check for that amount. Let's be honest here. That money should have gone to youth football. Numbers are declining everywhere in youth football. The NKYFL plays at Mills Rd. primarily and the kids are playing on dirt fields up there. They "SERVE" Bellevue, Dayton, Newport, Covington, Ludlow, and Erlanger to name the primary impoverised areas. Those who say that CovCath has the people in place to raise funds are right. All of the private schools do and some are better at it than others but I am crying foul here. My despise for CovCath and the people who represent it run deep and this is another good reason to hate them with all my soul. They have ruined the spirit of charity by stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. Sleep well, CovCath. Oh and GO RAVENS!!!

A few questions for clarity that would allow us to see where the venom comes from:

1. "like they always do" - How does CCH beat the system and what are some examples?

2. What "tools" does CCH have to "steal it away?"

3. "hate them with all my soul" - high school sophomore female dramatic - why the hate?

4. How has CCH "stolen from the poor?"

5. How can you steal something that was literally given to you?

Haters gonna hate! This is one of those times where I respect Cov Cath for the effort. Could it have gone to someone else? Yes. But like the lottery my friends, you gotta be in it to win it! My wife went to Brossart so I've heard the stories of fundraising. We are fortunate in Fort Thomas that people are not only happy to pay a school tax, but also come to every fundraiser and spend even more money. That is why we are academically best in the state! You can't just lean on administration and teachers. You have to have a full-court press by all parents helping and no rocks left unturned. Or, in this case no applications left incomplete. Don't complain unless you are out there trying to be part of the solution!

let it go people:isurrender:......

Wait! What? CCH has a bingo? That is awesome. Those are great ways of raising money. Can any school do this?
