I agree with you! Wow!

Even though I don't like the criteria and think they should change it so the money goes to schools in lower income areas, CCH did NOT cheat, steal, or find away around the system! Someone on the "let's put the privates in their own class camp".

It not very hard for a school to find/hire someone who is a teacher and has some experience in grant writing. One thing it does take is they need to put their heart into it and have a love for the school, which CCH has these people. I am sure some schools may have some parents who would be food at it. Beechwood owed a lot of their building projects over the past few years to someone who was very good at finding money for projects.

If it wasn't for the criteria thing, which I am sure they will look into changing, then I would not have any questions. At the end of the day it's the Bengals money and they can give it to whoever they choose.

I am in a very big project starting a good sized and very worthy charity, but you don't see me in here crying it should have gone to me, when I didn't even apply. Yes, I'll be on here in the coming months mentioning it and if anyone wants to help or give advice that would be great! But since I would not be able to write a very good grant, I have someone else doing it.

Did the NKYFL even apply for the money? Did they even know it was out there? My guess is no on both questions!! You want the money? Then have someone go out and search for it!

Something else that jumps out at me is the $200,000 wouldn't even be enough to put in a turf field for NKYFL so what good would it do to a program that can't cover the rest of the cost to put that type of field in?

Sorry, but although the 200k would do a lot of good, it wouldn't be enough to upgrade the facilities that NKYFL uses and they probably would have trouble raising the other 500k needed or whatever it is. so at least going to a school they can use the money to improve their existing facility.

All this arguing and, in a nutshell, it comes down to this. The wannabe cake-eaters, or junior cake-eaters if you will, beat the system again. The claims of poverty by CovCath supporters is a joke. They beat the system like they always do. With influence and manipulation. The Bengals give that money to whoever they want and CovCath has the tools in place to steal it away from schools that deserve it. That money should have gone to an organization that rightfully deserves it and doesn't have the boosters involved who have the means to write a check for that amount. Let's be honest here. That money should have gone to youth football. Numbers are declining everywhere in youth football. The NKYFL plays at Mills Rd. primarily and the kids are playing on dirt fields up there. They "SERVE" Bellevue, Dayton, Newport, Covington, Ludlow, and Erlanger to name the primary impoverised areas. Those who say that CovCath has the people in place to raise funds are right. All of the private schools do and some are better at it than others but I am crying foul here. My despise for CovCath and the people who represent it run deep and this is another good reason to hate them with all my soul. They have ruined the spirit of charity by stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. Sleep well, CovCath. Oh and GO RAVENS!!!

WOW!!!!!!! Talk about sour grapes, GEEEZ...... I was kind of taken back while reading this, then I see the last two words of the post, cleared everything up. However to imply that $200,000.00 is going to build a new turf field anywhere, is being a little out of touch with reality.

My guess is if they can't play sports it's tougher to get the scholarship money. I have nothing to base that on, other than my opinion. I believe Ncc does the same thing.

Then your guess is 1000% wrong. If anything, it's much tougher for the athletes to participate in the work study program because of their demands after school. Thus, most of the kids seeing the financial benefits of the program are non athletes.

it's not a "scholarship". It's financial aid given thru a work study program

Does this mean Cov. Cath will quit charging to get into games during the 3rd quarter?

Hell no- we've got a stadium to build

Yes- Cov Cath beat the system and manipulated lied and stole the money for turf- just like Campbell Co did two years ago.

Also- Get some anger management.

I went to Cov. Cath. from St. Augustine Parish in Peaselburg (Covington). Don't recall any Cadillacs on the block.

To be fair the days of kids who actually grew up in Covington going to CCH is over. It's very rare. Almost all St.Augustine, St. Ben's and Prince of Peace kids go to HC.

Not that it matter anyone who complains about this grant is silly.

I think by district St. Augustine parish is considered to be Holy Cross territory these days (may well have been when you attended Cov Cath as well), but that's my point exactly. There may be a good number of kids who grew up in Vanilla Hills walking the halls of Cov Cath, but that doesn't mean there aren't kids that grew up living next to Goebel Park doing the same.

Very rare if at all. In the late 90's early 2000's there were maybe two kids who went to Covington grade schools that ended up at CCH.

No sour grapes. No anger management needed. The truth is harsh but is necessary especially in this situation. Fo those of you bluebloods who don't like the truth being told about your not-so-fine institution. Sorry. In this case the rich get richer and the poor keep playing on dirt fields. It's just a shame that the school misrepresents itself as a religious institution when they obviously steal from the poor and fill their pockets. That "turf money" should go anywhere else but CovCath and Highlands.

I would hardly call taking money from the NFL as stealing from the poor. As was discussed already, this was a grant that was sought out and applied for with stipulations that only some schools could possibly meet anyway.

As far as Highlands is concerned, this has nothing to do with them.

Congrats to Cov. Cath.

I have tried to get money from the NFL and I think it is awful that the NFL will only do it for schools with in the area of teams. NKY qualifies for the Bengals.

But south of Covington No other school qualifies and we have many NFL teams that are have influence on our state - Bengals, Colts, Titans, Rams.

The school I sought money for is 74 miles from the Bengals. I was told out of their market.,

For the posters who are disappointed with CovCath:

I have a relative who lives in a 3 bedroom apartment in one of the most expensive parts of the country, she does not work anymore, and she lives 100% off of Social Security checks on the 1st of the month, and she gets an aid to stay with her almost half the day, and all of her medical expenses are on Medicaid. My family, with lots of sacrifices and hard work, would have the resources to take her in and live with us in cheaper NKY, take shifts in working as an aid, and could put her on an insurance plan out of pocket. Now, is she in the wrong for applying then accepting a third party (government)'s aid and stay where she is? Its not illegal, and there are PLENTY of people who live on the streets in her neighborhood. They are not willing (or have not shown the willingness) to apply for government aid. Her applying for government aid does not affect their ability to apply for the same. Does that make my aunt in the wrong?

Now look at CCH. They could raise an additional $200,000 for the turf with lots of hard work and sacrifice by the development committee, then an additional sacrifice by 10 or 100 or 1000 donors. Now, they could spend all of the time begging people to give up their hard earned money to CovCath, or they could go to a legal, willing and able third party (Bengals/NFL) and apply for a grant of $200,000. Does that make CovCath in the wrong? There are plenty of other schools just minutes away that could use a new football field more than CovCath, but they are not willing (or have not showed a willingness) to apply. CovCath applying for a grant did not affect other school's ability to apply for the same grant. So why is CovCath in the wrong?

Oh yes! CCH steals from the poor, are you talking about those poor souls who spend at least $75 on one Bengals ticket?

This thread is laughable now, lol

Now THAT.....THAT is a blaring mistake on the part of the NFL.
