Dirt Road Ahthem was written by Gilbert and Ford and was put out on an album a few years before Aldean covered it. Gilbert has written several songs that were covered by Aldean.
August 21, 201412 yr Another example of a cover that's not necessarily better than the original but good in its own right is a pair of Fleetwood Mac covers: Hole doing "Gold Dust Woman" and Dixie Chicks doing "Landslide." I'm not a big fan of the Dixie Chicks, but I agree that their version of Landslide is really good.

August 21, 201412 yr Black Label Society's cover of Skynyrd's "I Never Dreamed" is radically different than Skynyrd's version, and dare I say, MUCH BETTER.

August 21, 201412 yr While I'm on the Beatles, their version of "Twist and Shout" was exemplary. And Joe Cocker's version of "With A Little Help From My Friends" blew Ringo's flat, monotonous rendition out of the water.
