August 21, 201412 yr Ok, not doing any intentional self promoting here, but this is a cover done by myself and my cousin in one of our old bands that I always thought was better than the original I can see clearly now
August 21, 201412 yr Another example of a cover that's not necessarily better than the original but good in its own right is a pair of Fleetwood Mac covers: Hole doing "Gold Dust Woman" and Dixie Chicks doing "Landslide." I have a live version of the Dixie Chicks along with Stevie Nicks singing Landslide. Very good version.
August 21, 201412 yr "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" Beatles Elton John Have to go with the Beatles but Elton's got a Caribbean thing going with it that is good but loses the mystery of Lennon's original take.
August 21, 201412 yr Another example of a cover that's not necessarily better than the original but good in its own right is a pair of Fleetwood Mac covers: Hole doing "Gold Dust Woman" and Dixie Chicks doing "Landslide." Don't forget about the Smashing Pumpkins' version.
August 21, 201412 yr Man....both versions are SO good. That's almost an impossible call. Interesting trivia question. Anyone know what the original lyric was for the song rather than the titular word "crazy"? It is TOUGH. But I think I lean towards Patsy.
August 21, 201412 yr Blue Suede Shoes – Carl Perkins or Elvis Presley? Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon – Neil Diamond or Urge Overkill? Take Me to the River – Al Green or Talking Heads? Carl Perkins, Urge Overkill (forever associated with Pulp Fiction), Al Green
August 21, 201412 yr Van Halen Oh Pretty Woman over Roy Orbison... Nine Inch Nails/Hurt/Johnny Cash =... Orbison and Cash here.
August 21, 201412 yr Nazareth Love Hurts over the Roy Orbison version...Not popular I'm sure, but Orbison is great, gotta go with him. So much pain and heartache in his voice.
August 21, 201412 yr In their much too brief history the Civil Wars did a ton of covers. Not sure if any are better, but dang are they all good. Here are a few: "Billie Jean"
August 21, 201412 yr Amazingly, the man in the Civil Wars actually looks like a Confederate general. They are awesome though.
