I'm surprised WC didn't already have an OL coach this late but it sure looks like they found a good hire.

I'm with East Raider. It's 1 week from the start of the season and you announce a Blockbuster Hire on your OLine. And like 75 Center said, I'm surprised they didn't have an OLine Coach with 1 week to go before the first game. Just seems completely out of place. And yes I'm a BG fan and we're talking about WCentral, but I'd say the same thing if he were going to Corbin or wherever this late in the calendar.

If it were BCG, I'd swear we were talking about community service...

Morris never wanted to leave UK. He and Mitch couldnt agree on what the assistants needed to be paid. So when Baylor came calling he and his staff went because of the money.

 

Morris is one of my favorites. Always willing to sit down and talk football and very down to earth person.

...which lends itself even more to the question of, if he is essentially financially set, why does a guy leave Texas where there are literally thousands of better coaching gigs to randomly move to BG KY to coach as a position coach for a relatively unremarkable school in the grand scheme of things?

 

I mean, consider some of these things...

1. Guy Morris is no spring chicken, he's not what I would call "old" but he's getting up there in years...that a long move for him to make...

2. Housing - You don't just sorta move from Texas to KY, that's an undertaking. He's just going to buy a house in a town he knows nothing about?

3. Why not Texas - As I said before, consider the possibilities that he could have had in his own backyard, or at better programs ANYWHERE for that matter...why WC?

 

I guess I'm just flustered cause I can't understand it at all...

Guy Morriss definitely did have a residence (or at least a farm) in Boyle County a few years ago. I'm not sure if he still does, though. He does seem like someone who really likes Kentucky. A few years back, remember, his name was in the running for the Boyle County job.

Certainly. I wasn't implying that one job was better than the other. I was simply answering the question "why would he come to Kentucky" by saying "he appears to really like Kentucky."

Coaching is a fraternity, and so is the association between players. You build bonds and friendships that last a lifetime.

 

I am thinking that DF hit the nail on the head when he theorized that Coach Morris and Coach Feggins were old teammates for the Patriots. Whatever the souce of the contact between WC and Morris, if he is old friends with Feggins, I'm going to say that is the solid thread that has tied this deal together.

 

Who knows what Coach Morris' motivation is. Maybe he just wants to enjoy football at that level, for the fun of it. Regardless, it is a great hire by WC.
