I'd heard that there was a potential big name they were working on, but man, I didn't think it would be THAT big of a name.

Looks like Texas A&M-Commerce, where he was let go after a 1-9 season last year.

Ouch.

How long was he there?

Four years going by his Wikipedia entry. I misspoke, he stepped down after that season and then served as AD.

He stepped down in 2012 and appears to have been reassigned. Generally that's a force step down and a contract fulfillment by school but maybe not.

Wow. Great hire. That guy has to know what he's talking about....been involved in football coaching forever.

This is very intriguing to me.

Does Coach Morris have some kind of ties to WC? Does he still have a residence in KY? Is he going to be teaching or just coaching?

How do you attract a coach with his pedigree to come and be an assistant coach in high school? It isn't the pay scale, is it?

As far as I know, none whatsoever. I'm not 100% certain of it, but I think he and Coach Feggins may have been teammates on the New England Patriots in Feggins' rookie season. That would be the only thing I could think of.

Don't know an answer yet to the rest of your questions, but I do know the LISTSERV listing for the position that was posted 11 days ago indicated a PE certification was a must, so perhaps he will be teaching as well. They certainly couldn't pay him enough on just the stipend alone and I'm sure he's not going to make bank regardless.

He made millions as head coach at Baylor. I am sure his 55,000 salary at WC will just be gravy.

I, for one, will be extremely interested in his coaching stipend. Warren County is one of the largest districts in the state with a very low pay scale in comparison to other districts. I'm guessing assistant coaches in any sport rank pretty low. Look forward to learning what brought Coach Morris to Warren Central in BG.

IMO, the difference between a good HS coach and a college coach is more about who you know than what you know. There are 2 SEC head coaches that were long time HS coaches and caught a break. Also, I would be very surprised if this isn't just a one year gap stop for him. It is not rare for college guys that can't find college jobs to coach/teach in high school for a year with their eye on moving back to the college game once they can find a new job.

I am surprised though that he would come to Kentucky from Texas. You would think he would have been able to find a pretty good job in Texas high school football.
