It is a good hire no doubt but here is my theory (probably wrong but still my theory). There is always more to the story that what we know. I say next year Feggins, Morris and Feggins son land at WKU. If the coaching staff at WCHS could stay together at the school for a while, it would be great for program but my bet is they are a one trick pony and will be on the Hill next August.

As he should have been. Given what Morris was able to do during a difficult time.

 

Morris wont get a lot of credit for what he did at UK or what he did at Baylor. But while at Baylor he recruited some quality kids and made some other bigs changes that the next coaching staff benefited from.

What is wrong with the timing? Why would anyone be flustered over a HS Line Coach getting hired? Why does there have to be some big conspiracy?

 

If you are a High School Football coach and a retired College Coach offered to help your team, would you tell him to wait until next season and we'll see then?

 

Team almost definitely had an O-Line Coach, but may have been coaching out of position. So you slide him to a better fitting position and bring in a much more experienced O-Line Coach that can teach next level stuff to your HS Team.

According to a tweet by Zach Greenwell of Bowling Green Daily news the following is Guy Morriss pay:

 

"Going to clear up some rampant speculation about compensation for new Warren Central offensive line coach Guy Morriss, former UK Coach. Board allocates $11,000 total for Warren Central football staff, as well as 70 "days" Coaches are paid a daily rate depending on status. Guy Morriss has $180 daily rate for non-certified personnel and will get 15 days, meaning his compensation for the season will be $2,700. All of that from Warren Central principal Brad Tolbert. Rest of that money has to pay full staff, so Morriss is in normal compensation range."

 

$2,700 is the normal stipend for any non-certified staff members at any of the Warren County Schools. ie. Warren East, Greenwood, Warren Central and South Warren.

Jared Lorenzen co-hosted a portion of the KSR show today. He had a lot to say about Morriss. Very little of it was good.

Most of it had to do with how Morriss left UK. Lorenzen said Morriss called the team together & told them he was leaving for Baylor because it was closer to his mother, who he said was not well. Lorenzen said he & his teammates thought it was a bogus answer--that Morriss was leaving UK solely because of money, but he wouldn't own that with the players.

 

So anyway, Morriss spends about a minute talking to the players and tries to leave, but Derek Abney steps in his way and prevents him from leaving, using some expletives in the process.

 

Basically, Lorenzen said none of the team really blamed Morriss for leaving, but they disliked him for not being straight up with them as to why he was leaving. Thought it was bush league that he laid it at his mother's feet rather than just tell the truth. Lorzenen said several of the guys went to bat for Morriss before he was hired & he felt like Morriss didn't return the favor at all.

 

He said a few years ago he (Lorenzen) was invited to play in some kind of charity game in which Morriss was taking part, but he refused to play solely because of Guy's involvement.
