Middle School football doesn't mean a hill of beans. Way to many factors come into play before those kids get to the varsity level.

It's not forgotten. For whatever reason not many from the western part of the state participate in discussion of anything on BGP. We need more WKY people for insight of who, what, when and where out west.

I totally agree PurplePride92. The only team I hear most about is Owensboro. Would love to hear more about the team in the Western part.

in the West of 4A, it has gone pretty much like this...

 

- While Lone Oak was there, they were the road block you had to get by if you realistically wanted to get to the Finals.

 

- Lou. Western seemed to me to the champion of the underdog Louisville schools as they have for the most part been in the mix every year despite not enjoying the advantages of the privates and the magnets.

 

- A District 2 team is almost always a challenger, be it Allen Co., Franklin Simpson, or Warren East. I am dialing up my Raiders number this year based on the fact that they have so much coming back, 27 seniors, and the trump card that is Eli Brown.

 

- It would be hard to not say that Owensboro has been a HUGE disappointment in 4A...one would think that they should own the West given their history, quality of coaching, and year-to-year talent.

 

- The same could almost be said for Franklin Simpson.

 

- Collins is the bad new dude on the block. It will be very interesting to see what they look like without two D1A players.

 

- This is what I would call the last year for the "Wild West" as I have come to call it in reference to just how much parity there has been since the move to 6 classes...come next year, Warren Central and John Hardin move into town, and I am going to go ahead and say, we can probably predict the State Semi's at least 3 out of every 5 years (and yes, I know Collins will be in JH's region, and no, I don't think they'll be able to beat JH more than 2 out of every 5 years).

I'm curious what it is that Collins has that makes you rate them about those two and Boyle County? It was my understanding they were gutted with regards to last season. I know they've established a good program and have a lot of talent coming through the ranks, but still, prior to last year they weren't on the standing with any of those teams.

Why dont those schools become members and participate? There is more than just state championships as part of being a member.

 

The FTJL is just that, a junior football League, IE youth league, just like NKYFL and Boone County Pee Wee.

 

20 Teams from Jefferson Co are members, that pretty much covers all of Louisville are except for the Catholic Youth League teams.

 

If you don't have the kids from NKY and you don't hae the catholic kids from Louisiville then it isn't much of a state championship now is it?
