To his credit he has been cooperative and encouraging to Malik Dow's situation. Everyone should follow Coach Renner's lead and hope for the best for Dow and his family.

Very true. I do think it should have been noted that he handled the situation with class.

Transferring from a Sweet 16 team to a team that didn't even make it to the region tournament definitley seems like a basketball move to me. Looks like we have some geniuses making decisions about who is eligible and who isn't.

Ballard has added a really good out of state transfer. I'm sure they will be fine...and I'm sure the out of state kid will be ruled eligible immediately if he hasn't already been.

The KHSAA ruled the way they did because it is not a legal move. If you dont move with family/parents, and you move in with another players parents that doesnt constitute a change of residence. However if your parents are willing to sign over parental rights, whole different story. He should just go back to Ballard because unless parents are willing to move or do the mentioned above nothing will change the KHSAA's mind. Getting on social media and saying you are the newest member of the "Hager family" is not a smart decision either

You seem to be in the know. So to be clear: you've confirmed that was the reason for the denial - that there wasn't a legit change of address? And you've confirmed that he "just moved in" with the Hagers? That they weren't appointed guardians/custodians of the kid; that parental rights weren't signed over/transferred?

The Hagers are Malik Dow's legal guardians. I know that is a fact.

Someone close told me, mother has moved to Mercer so he should be ruled eligible the next time. KHSAA frowns on legal guardian, and that is the main reason for the ineligible ruling the first time.

I hope he is eligible to play immediately.

He will be fine and should be ruled eligible, trust me when I say I hope he gets to play, he is one of our states best players and deserves to play. Just trying to prove the fact that the KHSAA is so inconsistent its pathetic.

Malik's mother has not moved to Mercer. Not sure where your "good source" got that.
