Is Jason Booher out at Holmes?

Featured Replies

Don't Mack and Booher both live in Ft. Mitchell?

The Boohers live in Ft. Mitchell. Their children attend Beechwood.

I am pretty sure the Macks live in Edgewood near Summit Hills.

On a related note, what are the minimum qualifications for a head basketball coach at a Kentucky public high school?

The very minimum, I believe, for those districts that allow para-professionals as head coaches is 68 hours of college credit and the mandatory KHSAA safety classes. As PP92 said though, different districts may have different requirements.

Level 2 Coaches

An individual seeking a coaching position at the high school level shall be categorized as Level 2 if that individual meets the following criteria prior to assignment to coaching duties and does not meet the qualifications of Level 1:

(1) Shall be a high school graduate and 21 years of age;

(2) Shall not be a violent offender or convicted of a sex crime as defined by KRS 17.165 that is classified as a felony;

(3) Shall submit to a criminal record check under KRS 160.380;

(4) Shall meet one of the following additional qualifications:

i. Have graduated from a public or accredited high school and hold a provisional or standard teaching certificate;

ii. Have completed sixty-four semester hours of college credit from an accredited college or university as documented by an official transcript;

Thanks BREDS...I knew that was out there but was just too darn lazy this morning to look it up.

This was of interest to me a few years back when I applied for a jv basketball coaching job.

No clue on if they are going to officially interview outside of the current staff but it sounds like they are checking with some others.

Brad Carr would be a good fit as would Listerman. I doubt Wimzie is an option nor does he want it. On a side note, how old is Wimzie? Dude was bench pressing 3 Bills yesterday at the gym. Beast

Best of luck to Coach Booher. His resume speaks for itselfas a cach but more importantly he seems like a great person. Cov School District is losing a tremendous asset.

I would guess about 55 for John.

I'd hate to see Carr leave Scott but many believe it's the one job he might be willing to consider. How would retirement and salary compare between the two schools? City vs. County.

It's a pretty tough time of year for Carr or anyone like that to jump. I doubt the position is filled this year by anyone other than Bud or Listerman.

A Listerman CCH rivalry would be too tough to pass up. I say Coach L gets the nod and I will be the first in the gym for any contest between Holmes and CCH! Would it get any better?

I'm sure coach L would be foaming at the mouth for the CovCath games if he were the head coach at Holmes.

Wondering whether the new superintendent (from Hardin County) would have input on next coach? Or is this hire mostly up to AD? And what about site-based council?

I just have a feeling that the new coach will come from outside the district, despite the late date.

Also, shouldn't Bob Huggins have a say, since Beetle is headed his way in a year? (Just kidding.)

Would be like the old days. Holmes - CovCath barnburners! And both Gyms packed and stacked!

And that is how it should be. Electric.

The biggest question is how many current head coaches would be willing to jump ship this late in the summer if Holmes does look outside of the current staff?

Not too many candidates are going to have a better resume than Mike Listerman. Staying with the current staff also eases the transition in to this season for the players.
