Is Jason Booher out at Holmes?

Featured Replies

I could be wrong but I dont think Bud is interested in a head coaching position.

You're probably correct, I'm guessing it would have happened by now if he wanted to pursue it.

I haven't seen a Bulldogs hoops game since Booher/Listerman have been at Holmes. How do the kids respond to Listerman? Think they would buy into his style if he became HC?

Booher and Listerman seemed to coach in a similar fashion, at least on game day. No info about practices. I'd think that transition wouldn't be a big deal for the kids.

Do we even know for sure if Coach Listerman wants to be a full-time head coach again?

I hesitate to contradict you here you since you obviously have your sources, but that's a puzzling take since Covington's current district superintendent and Holmes' incoming principal are both known as sticklers regarding behavior, discipline, academic standards, and so on. In terms of basketball, overall the 2016 and 2017 Bulldogs seem to demonstrate pretty decent character (though there's typically an exception or two). So it's hard to see where the coaches would feel thwarted in terms of improving the environment at Holmes -- but again, it seems you've got it from at least one horse's mouth, and I do not.

Incoming principal is a good note. I belive the former principal was reassigned to be an asst principal at one of the elementary schools. (someone please correct me if I am wrong on that.) That might say something.

What a shame to hear he is leaving. Booher has done a great job at Holmes. Good luck to Jason and his family in whatever they do....

As for the job, I would assume Listerman is interested. Remember he was forced out of coaching at CovCath and could have remained as a teacher but traded the blue for red so that he could continue coaching. If he did get it it would be so strange to see two CovCath Listerman Legends coaching at (arguably) their 2 biggest rivals (Highlands and Holmes).

On a related note, what are the minimum qualifications for a head basketball coach at a Kentucky public high school?

Not surprised at all. He has wanted to move up in the Administrative realm for a while. I think he loves coaching and basketball, but I don't think it was ever his life. His family has always been his life. He has had a great 18 years with high school youth and two state championships. On top of that, a first class guy. I wish him all the luck in the world.

Holmes will survive, although they will miss Jason. Tough to replace, but no one is irreplaceable.

Does this change the preseason regional rankings? Is it still a 3 team race?

I could be wrong but I think each school operates differently so I don't know if anyone could truly answer that question.

Coach L would take the job if given the opportunity.

Wishing Jason Booher all the best as he retires as head boys coach at Holmes HS. That guy could coach! Will be missed on the sidelines...

I believe it is. Holmes will still have the best player in the region. But NCC is still the fave.

I don't know the answer but I know that I would want a chance at knocking down my former school which just happens to be in the same district and is the returning state champ.

Don't Mack and Booher both live in Ft. Mitchell?

Not sure where Jason lives. Chris lives in Crestview Hills.
