Does this short window of time eliminate a search for a new head coach considering you have a long-time head man one chair over?

If that is the reason why didn't he just tell you earlier today when he sent you the email this morning pretending everything was business as usual?

He knew if he told some people that it would be known instantly. I guess he didn't want to announce it but the chatter and BGP moved it up.

And for the record, he is retiring from coaching to accept a position in the Pikeville school system.

 

I can't post specifics but do know that the offer that was made to Jason was too good of an opportunity for both him and his family to pass on. I wish him nothing but the best.

There is interest from one side...... but I'm sure there will be a lot of applicants given the current roster and history of Holmes basketball in the 9th region and statewide.

According to some of the coaches I know at homes, they tell me that alot of the discipline and good character things that they had been promoting to change the environment (and worked well btw) are slowly no longer being followed, as well as those in higher positions looking left on minor things.

 

I hesitate to contradict you here you since you obviously have your sources, but that's a puzzling take since Covington's current district superintendent and Holmes' incoming principal are both known as sticklers regarding behavior, discipline, academic standards, and so on. In terms of basketball, overall the 2016 and 2017 Bulldogs seem to demonstrate pretty decent character (though there's typically an exception or two). So it's hard to see where the coaches would feel thwarted in terms of improving the environment at Holmes -- but again, it seems you've got it from at least one horse's mouth, and I do not.

Disagree with this...Booher came from Shelby Valley and had plenty of success with "inner city kids."

 

There is a great assistant coaching staff in place so regardless of who gets the head coaching job, there will be a great support structure.

He definitely had success and is one of the top coaches in the state. I just think that they need a coach that is more equipped to handle inner city kids. That would not leave because of the environment.

Booher grew up in Radcliff and went to North Hardin High School. This probably wasn't as much of a culture shock as some might think.

very true, however Radcliff and Northern Kentucky/ Cincinnati kids are very different. either way big lost for Holmes.
