Aaron Floyd's Waiver Denied

Featured Replies

In reality should the KHSAA really have the power to stop a kid from playing. If parents decide to move their kids for whatever reason, why should the KHSAA have any say in the matter?

I've always hated the transfer rule for that reason. I'm guessing the courts see it the same way.

To me it's simple...because you have complete anarchy if you don't have transfer rules...and someone has to oversee it, and in this state it's the KHSAA. I'm not saying the KHSAA is perfect, or great, or that I'm a an of all the decisions they make, because they aren't and I'm not, but someone has to oversee the rules and make a decision.

Curious if he is @ CCH practice this week pending new paperwork.

Was told he is there but not practicing, also that this is just a paper issue and he will be cleared to play sometime in early August.

I have not been told want the issue with paper work are, but he was at Cov Cath today.

Speculating but that sounds more like an appeal to me.

maybe VOR hit the nail on the head when he mentioned paper work could be fudged up so he does not play Boone in the opening week. But if you are Boone, you want him to go to CCH. I really doubt he would go back to Boone and if he doesn't go to CCH he might end up at another Boone county high school, which I doubt they want at all (Provided he is found eligible at another public school).

I have a feeling that wouldn't be a good locker room atmosphere for A Floyd if he went back to Boone..

That is a good question, I assume so on Boone. However, I keep hearing if CovCath doesn't work out the fallback plan is Cooper but I don't see how that will be allowed either. Employees in the Boone County District can send their children to their school of choice but athletic eligibility is a separate issue governed by the KHSAA and not Boone County Schools. Additionally, I think Floyd lives in Ryle's district, maybe he can go there but I also was told the parents transferred guardianship to a relative in Villa Hills so maybe Dixie.

Any way you cut this one, it is a giant cluster and I feel sorry for Aaron.

You just listed all the other Boone county schools. My question is what is really going on in Boone co. that he will go anywhere but there?

Don't know if it is anything with Boone county. I think it is more of that bridge has been burned.

No I didn't, I listed Cooper because it has been mentioned several times and Ryle because that is the district where Aaron Floyd lives. I did not mention Conner (because they don't play any defense).

^ Just kidding Sheriff.

If there is an issue at Boone County I don't know about it.

What I do know is George Floyd was probably the most vocal detractor when it came to Rick Thompson. Moving forward, I certainly understand how George Floyd would be upset because his son played QB last year instead of his college position of Safety. With all that in mind I can see where George Floyd thinks a different football team is best for his son.

Again, I feel sorry for Aaron, I think he was set to have a great season for Boone County as a Safety and part time RB.

What does that mean?

The poster child for most egregious eligibility ruling by the KHSAA was Vance Sullivan.

Come to NewCath, we have creative ways to get you eligible. :ohbrother:

Hate to see this ruin his chance at a scholarship , if indeed he was able to earn one.

IF AF is over 6' in height and runs at least a 4.5 40, he should not even need highlight tape.

As long as Aaron gets to play somewhere he will be fine.

My concern is that any transfer is seen as a charade and the bridge is burnt beyond repair unless the Boone County BOE flexes their mighty muscles.

Oh what a tangled web we weave.

Hey (pick a relative) you gave me the wrong address? Is it 123 Main st or 321 Main st? Hurry because I need to resend in this paperwork.

Is there a certain period of time that the KHSAA makes rulings on eligibility? I know we have been discussing this for almost 2 months now and for Aaron's/Boone County and CCH's sake it should have been cleared up by now since his intentions have been to transfer to CCH for some time.

Again my only issue is that Aaron (or any player) is allowed to practice or even be allowed at the practice until the transfer is ruled eligible.

He's not 6' tall and runs nowhere near a 4.5 40. I'd be shocked if it below 4.7.
