Aaron Floyd's Waiver Denied

Wonderful idea- because we all know kids are great at making solid decisions.

How about modeling the high road and allowing every kid on the team to grow from the situation rather than wallow in bitterness?

As usual, on point.

I do not like that statement. These kids are nine or ten months away from being let loose into the world. They deserve a say on their team. Making bad decisions is sometimes a part of life.

Kids 9 or 10 months from being adults are kids. You show me a team that is a democracy and I will show you a bad team.

So does coach let him back on the team?

The kid should be welcomed back to Boone with open arms. Who can fault him for wanting to transfer to go play for his brother @ CCH. He went through the process, it was denied, now he should be able to go to Plan B without any issues.

When I know something I will post it.

You make a good point and I see where you are coming from.

I just believe high schools are treated like little kids to often and then months later and asked to pick what they want to do for the rest of their lives. I know that is not the scenario here and is not what you said but just something that annoys me.

I know that part, I meant with playing again at Boone.

As to FTTS above, when you leave somewhere without letting the coach know and you don't show up for any workouts for months I can understand why there would be some debate allowing someone to go with "Plan B" without any issues. I am not saying that is the Coach's point of view, but I understand that thinking.

I wasn't aware of that, I just assumed he was in on the decision given Aaron's parent involvement @ Boone. Yes that in itself does change things.

And to take the other side of it, I blame the parents for that, not Aaron. I will add, Aaron's parents have always been very nice/friendly with me, no axe to grind here.

So is this the reason given to the KHSAA for the transfer? I have no idea actually. I know his brother is a coach there, only from reading this thread do I know that, but I can understand why his transfer was denied. Definitely doesn't meet the criteria to transfer.

Again, what a mess!

I have no idea what their reasoning was for the transfer. Just speculating that may have been one of the many reasons.

Wow. Did I read this correctly that Clyde gave a LIKE. Doesn't that win OB a prize or something?

Really? So this one kid is going to be the difference in the Boone County TEAM winning a game this year? I think not.

A little bit of an overstatement, but Boone last year didn't count on anyone more than Aaron. He played multiple positions both ways. He is definitely the most important player on that roster. Wish him and Boone a very good luck this year.

Not really, he mostly played QB and that was it.

With that said, Aaron is a VERY talented football player and if the chips fall right he will get a D1 scholarship to play safety.

I know I shouldn't say something like this, but Boone ain't winning no state championship this year whether Aaron plays or not.

Let him play Coach. I know there are a million reasons to deny him but there is one reason to let him play.

Oh the reason? It is the right thing to do for Aaron.

That being said, I want to the kid to play. If you are the coach, you tell the seniors the good he can bring to the team and that you think he is sorry. I personally think the kids would say let him play. I really do.

Is starting one kid worth upsetting 25? I truly do not know, I am not close enough to the situation. But I think he does start many games for Boone this season.

Sorry?? He did nothing wrong? Aaron saw a great opportunity and he took it. But it was shot down. It happens. I am almost positive Aaron's real friends at Boone understood completely. I wouldn't be afraid to put money on the fact that most Boone kids would love to play at CCH if they had the chance, but that's quite unrealistic considering the talent CCH brings in every year.

That is an interesting observation; Guru, do you think that sentiment is accurate within the Boone locker room?
