May 28, 201412 yr Really? You actually went there... He's liberal, it's ok for him to be condescending to blacks.
May 28, 201412 yr You can't compare him to Herman Cain. Mr Cain simply came off as a bit whacky. Dr Carson has a hot button issue to rail against ie AHCA. Rick Perry will NEVER win the POTUS race. I agree with James Carville. The two front-runners are Rick Perry and Jeb Bush. In the second tier are Waker and Christie. It's early. Who knows. The Republicans don't like surprises, though, which is why this year's GOP primary debates will be akin to watching paint dry. In any event, Carson doesn't have a snowball's chance of winning anything on the national level.
May 28, 201412 yr Really? You actually went there... Cain and Keyes were both articulate candidates. Other candidates -- Sarah Palin, Rick Perry and George W. Bush, for instance -- are/were not articulate candidates. Hence, whether one is articulate -- or not -- often doesn't mean much in the big scheme.

Hence, whether one is articulate -- or not -- often doesn't mean much in the big scheme.Keyes was a single issue candidate who never really made an effort to win primaries. Much of Cain's support was among the Christian right and a sex scandal took the wind out of his sails. I agree with your comments about Perry and Bush, but Sarah Palin is a very effective and persuasive communicator (even without a teleprompter), whether you like her or not and she more than held her own in her debate with Biden.
May 28, 201412 yr Okay, I'm going to agree with TTP, Carson can't win the nomination or the presidency, but for a different reason than TTP is probably thinking. I say the president has made it near impossible for a black man to win the presidency for quite a while. Yes.....I went there.

May 28, 201412 yr Really? You actually went there... I must have missed the memo on "articulate" being a pejorative. We can debate the issues on these threads in a fact-based manner, or we can play inside baseball with arcane "gotchas." Let me know.

Just playing the same game you played during the last election cycle brother!!!

Alan Keys while articulate (figured I would stick with the term ), for some reason he came off a little dry and I think bored people. You are definitely correct about Herman Cain looking a little whacky, he just has a bizarre personality. Dr. Carson on the other hand, he draws you in while speaking and I think moderates who have been turned off by Chris Christie will go his way. His strength is his ability to talk about the Affordable Care act as someone in the field so that will draw votes to. I do agree with you that Rick Perry will never win the presidency. Overall I think Carson will put up a good race but he doesn't have the political background to win the primary. A few states, sure but not the primary as a whole.

I'm thinking it's doubtful that we'll see another Democratic ticket without a minority candidate in either the top or No. 2 spot -- at least for the next two or three elections.

You think Hilary will have to pick a minority as her VP? I'm not saying she won't, I just don't think she has to. With the president's approval rating, my assumption is she would want a VP who has characteristics which do as little to relate him/her to the president as possible but still fit somewhere in the democrat range. When I say characteristics, I mean more along the lines of views not race or appearance. Former IN Gov Evan Baye may be a possibility. I little on the moderate side but can still be relied upon to support major Democrat views.

Somebody keeps it real about race relations in America!!!!! :lol2:

We have two competing issues here: Obama's current low approval rating vs. the successful voting bloc Obama put together in '08 and '12. Obviously, Hillary will want to tap into that voting bloc in '16, assuming she's the candidate. Yes, Bayh would be a solid choice as running mate. So would Cory Booker of N.J. or Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota. A Clinton-Booker ticket would be very strong.
