May 28, 201412 yr We have two competing issues here: Obama's current low approval rating vs. the successful voting bloc Obama put together in '08 and '12. Obviously, Hillary will want to tap into that voting bloc in '16, assuming she's the candidate. Yes, Bayh would be a solid choice as running mate. So would Cory Booker of N.J. or Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota. A Clinton-Booker ticket would be very strong.Clinton-Booker? Why would Democrats not want an honest running mate on the ticket to balance Hillary? You are probably right, though. A large number of women will vote for Hillary despite her record of failure and corruption and with Booker on the ticket, that would virtually ensure 90 percent of the African-American vote. I hope that Americans have had their fill of corruption and incompetence in the White House and will put the country on the path to recovery.

I would guess with some smart campaigning, Hillary could count on that voting bloc again while still going for a candidate who would open doors to voters which may be on the fence about voting for her or whoever wins the GOP primary. As you can tell, I am pretty much assuming Hilary will win the Dem nomination.

I'm sure that Mrs. Clinton is already crunching numbers to recapture the winning formula of '08: 90 percent of the black vote, two-thirds of the Hispanic vote, etc. For those taking potshots at the senator from New Jersey, rest assured that the Dems will thoroughly investigate any and all VP candidates. In other words, we shouldn't see a repeat of McCain-Palin in '08. And speaking of Mrs. Palin, you are quite correct in recognizing her talents. Like Brando, she could have been a contender had she not sold her soul to reality TV and such.
May 28, 201412 yr As you can tell, I am pretty much assuming Hilary will win the Dem nomination. I would think the only thing that could derail Hillary's nomination would be her health -- unless this new 8th (or is it the 9th?) committee to investigate Benghazi slings some mud that actually sticks to something. Highly doubtful.

She's not black so she'll get closer to the traditional black vote without the added numbers Obama generated. She's also not young so will have a tough time there also. She'll get added votes from women though.
May 29, 201412 yr Author FWIW Hillary has her own thread now...we can all move over there to discuss her Presidential aspirations... http://bluegrasspreps.com/kentucky-national-politics/why-hillary-clinton-278615.html
May 29, 201412 yr No one runs for President without the machinery behind them. I do not believe Mr. Carson has that. Maybe he can be adviser regardless of the party in charge in 2017.
May 29, 201412 yr No way. Not nearly experienced enough. One should never even think about running for high office unless they are experienced.

May 29, 201412 yr No one runs for President without the machinery behind them.. That is my feeling also. His past (well regarded surgeon, very popular author) is good to build up a run for the white house, I just think he needs to add Senator or Governor to that past also. Those are two political positions that someone with no political experience but huge name recognition can achieve (Ronald Reagan, Al Franken, etc.) I do not believe Mr. Carson has that. Maybe he can be adviser regardless of the party in charge in 2017. While I think he would put his leanings aside and would be willing to assist Hilary if she wins the presidency, the odds of Hilary asking for his help would probably be pretty small. LOL.

May 29, 201412 yr Author Okay, I'm going to agree with TTP, Carson can't win the nomination or the presidency, but for a different reason than TTP is probably thinking. I say the president has made it near impossible for a black man to win the presidency for quite a while. Yes.....I went there. How so? Because he was Black or because of the job he has done?
