May 27, 201412 yr I found this article on Dr Carson. Gives a little more detail as to his plan for health care plus his view on public education which I think many will find interesting. Who Is Dr. Ben Carson? - POLITICO Magazine "If you happen to be in an affluent community, there’s a lot more money for the schools, better facilities, everything. All that does is perpetuate the situation,” he told me. “Wouldn’t it make more sense to put the money in a pot and redistribute it throughout the country so that public schools are equal, whether you’re in a poor area or a wealthy area?” I just like him because he's black. :lol2:
May 27, 201412 yr Conceptually, I love the government funded HSA idea. I like as well that employer contribution would be encouraged. Could potentially be as valuable a benefit as employer contributions to 401K. Would love to hear what his ideas are about controlling healthcare costs would be. Love his idea on pooling education funding and disbursing more equally to ensure more equitable funding across the system. LOVE his philosophy that parties should be dissolved.
May 27, 201412 yr Ben Carson has zero chance of becoming the GOP nominee for president in '16. His views on gun control don't coincide with the NRA's.
May 27, 201412 yr Author Ben Carson has zero chance of becoming the GOP nominee for president in '16. His views on gun control don't coincide with the NRA's. Asked by Beck for his thoughts on the Second Amendment, Carson gave the popular pro-gun argument: "There's a reason for the Second Amendment; people do have the right to have weapons." But when asked whether people should be allowed to own "semi-automatic weapons," the doctor replied: "It depends on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I'm afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it," Carson elaborated. However, if you live "out in the country somewhere by yourself" and want to own a semi-automatic weapon, he added, "I've no problem with that." While I'm not 100% with him on this, I could live with it. FWIW I don't think Big City Liberals should have semi-automatic firearms either

His views on gun control don't coincide with the NRA's.By that I assume you're talking about what he said to Glen Beck about not liking the idea of semi-autos in urban areas and being okay in rural areas. He has now said he would "never advocate anything to interfere with Second Amendment rights," affirming that "law-abiding American citizens absolutely should have gun rights." He also says he is opposed to gun registration, saying he "used to think they needed to be registered, but if you register them, they just come and find you and take your guns." Sounds like he's learning to be a politician. :lol2:

I am going to assume that his idea about HSA is linked to how to control healthcare costs. Thinking being that if it's YOUR money you'll be thriftier with it.
May 28, 201412 yr I haven't backread all the posts, but here is another Ben Carson speech. This is the speech that sort of put him in the public eye.
May 28, 201412 yr I am going to assume that his idea about HSA is linked to how to control healthcare costs. Thinking being that if it's YOUR money you'll be thriftier with it. That's always been my experience with any organization I've worked with although there is always a balance between reducing costs and seeking needed treatment.
May 28, 201412 yr As always when someone we don't know well hits the political stage we will start hearing past quotes, legal issues, divorces, etc. I would imagine there is a group already in place doing research on Dr Carson. For example, Dr Carson once advocated for limiting "for profit" health are companies to routine care and the govt being responsible for catastrophic care. A Candid Interview With Dr. Ben S. Carson, M.D: An American Icon The entire concept of for profits for the insurance companies makes absolutely no sense. “I deny that you need care and I will make more money”. This is totally ridiculous. The first thing we need to do is get rid of for profit insurance companies. We have a lack of policies and we need to make the government responsible for catastrophic health care.
May 28, 201412 yr Sounds like the kind of guy who could get a look from a wide range of people across the political spectrum.

I don't disagree with your statement, but I believe no women or non-white males have ever won one of the 780-plus GOP state presidential primaries since 1952. That's another reason why the doc has zero chance to become the GOP's standard-bearer in '16.

Couldn't the same be said for the Dems. before 2008 when they found the candidate from the great state of Manchuria?
