May 22, 201412 yr I would probably vote for this guy. It might be off topic, but I can't stand when interviews end like this... She blatantly took the last word from him so that her argument was last. Which would be fine, except he is a guest on her show, so he gets to speak. That's what he's there for. If you didn't like his ideas, then why invite him?
May 22, 201412 yr That's the sort of sentiment that drives me crazy too. It pervades a lot of thinking about a lot of different things. But that sort of Edenic ideal of a time lost that we struggle to get back to is pointless. There can be a great country and great world ahead, but it lies forward not backward. To think otherwise is willful disregard for the problems of decades and centuries past. Which is an interesting concept to study. I personally feel we conveniently forget the problems of the past, because the fear of change and unknown is crippling. You know, that old saying "The devil you know...."

I did like how he would not let them interrupt him but would complete his thought before they would talk.

May 22, 201412 yr It's kind of ironic, but we more conservative leaning posters are probably having a similar gut-level reaction to him (in a positive way) that the more liberal posters would have had for Obama sound bites 6 years ago.

I can see that. I haven't listened to the video yet. I'll have to see what he says.

I agree with your and Getslow's earlier post regarding "returning to our values" or whatever specifically Dr. Carson referred. Those are catch phrases which is why I likened my reaction to my negative reaction when Obama preached his campaign of "change". I am always for change, but insightful, targeted improvements....not change for change sake. If we "return to our values"....hopefully they are the right ones, as some were better left behind.
May 22, 201412 yr I can agree from the 30,000' view with pretty much all he says. However, and unsurprising at this point, he doesn't explain HOW to fix the issues. Again, from a high-level overview point of reference, he makes sense. But the devil is in the details, and I'd love to hear more of what those details may be. It's the one thing I'd like to see America demand from it's political candidates. Don't tell me you'll "fix" whatever withouth telling me the plan.
May 22, 201412 yr From what little I know about him, I really like the guy. Which means, of course, that he doesn't stand a chance. :lol2:

FWIW No politician EVER tells how they are going to do anything they say they are planning on doing it...so you can't hold that against him here. Also he may have expanded on what he was trying to say if Whoopi and the other lady didn't keep trying to interrupt him. I agree that we let politicians off of the hook when they lay out their ideas and don't give a plan on how to achieve them. He may not be "Exciting" but I'd rather have a leader with substance than one with "Flash"

He may not be "Exciting" but I'd rather have a leader with substance than one with "Flash" I didn't think anyone cut him off. He laid out exactly what he wanted to say. By the way...I definitely agree with Whoopi's comments at the end. I don't care if he's exciting or flashy. What I do care about is that he sees a problem with the healthcare system, and wants to address that. And although he isn't a fan of ACA, I am down with someone wanting to tackle the issue from a different angle...AS LONG AS THAT ISN'T REPEALING ACA WITHOUT AN ACTUAL ALTERNATIVE PLAN.

He did finish what he was saying but the lady to his left tried 3 or 4 times to interrupt him and he wouldn't allow her to. As far as the ACA goes it will never go away :( but it can be fixed and made much more user friendly for patients and doctors and not as friendly to Big Pharma, Hospitals, insurance companies and those that are and will be getting rich from this legislation.
