Ben Carson...possible POTUS?

Featured Replies

Incorrect. The POTUS went through two primary seasons. America had a long time to learn about him. The good doctor has been on one 8-minute interview and we want him to be POTUS.

The President's health care plan has been reviewed, analyzed, and picked apart for 6+ years now. The doctor has been on for 8 minutes for 99.9% of America.

Hardly the same.

It is exactly the same. We know now what a sham Obamacare is and how false the claims that were made by Obama and others were before it passed. Obamacare did not pass after 6 years of being picked apart. It passed with absolutely no Republican support and very little effort to garner any Republican support. It was passed by Democrats who never read the bill and signed by a president who never read the bill.

It is hard to imagine that anything Dr. Carson, one of the top neurosurgeons in the world, would propose would make matters any worse.

Unless 50+% of the voters knew within 8 minutes of ever hearing a person talk who hasn't even declared to be a candidate it's not remotely the same.

Your argument is what is often is - a railing against the President. I don't mind railing. It just doesn't fit in this particular debate.

For the record, this guy may be the best person for the job at this time. He certainly is worth an investment of time. I just don't get the reaction after 8 minutes.
It is entirely possible, in fact downright probable, that those of us who would enthusiastically support a Carson candidacy have spent considerably more than 8 minutes to reach that conclusion.

Of course. Hello, Mr Exception. Good to meet you.

I've seen this thread and countless re-posts on FB from people who have never heard of this fine gentleman before this 8-minute interview.

Dr. Carson has been a well known commodity since the 1980s. He has written six books and many columns. Carson is far from a flash in the pan, so your "8 minutes" argument does not hold water.

Obama is only relevant to the discussion because he was a much bigger unknown and totally lacked any background that would cause a reasonable man or woman to suspect that he could "fix" the world's greatest healthcare system. Yet, many of you still defend Obamacare as if it just needs a few small tweaks. It is, in fact, a disaster that will only get worse when Democrats stop delaying some of its most onerous "features."

That is why I rarely visit Facebook and never discuss politics there. I expect people who frequent this forum to be much better informed. Sometimes I am disappointed...

Although I would be happy to see Dr. Carson run on the Republican ticket this fall, I don't think that the GOP leadership will let it happen. They are busy trying to pave the way for Jeb Bush or Chris Cristie because they had such good results with the last couple of moderates that ran for president.

Dr. Carson's lack of political experience, which is very appealing to me, will make it difficult for him to win with the deck stacked against him. Allen West or Ted Cruz have much better chances to spoil the GOP's plans to ensure that a moderate emerges from the pack.

A lot of the 2008 presidential campaign Obama and his supporters worked hard to hide his true viewpoints, his mentors, close associates and friends. For if the public connected him to the radicals in his life, he would have never been elected. They worked hard to hide their view points or their association with Obama.

Platitudes.

What are his specific plans to accomplish any of that?

Dr. Carson discussed some them as he hosted the Sean Hannity show today. Education, family, as in mom, dad and children, hard work, less dependence on government and God in our lives. Not the forcing of one's beliefs on someone, but allowing those who believe to show in public that God has granted us with a very special place to live. He believes that individuals are responsible for their own livelihood, but as a society when there is a real need, we as Christians and as a nation need to help.

And he has had more than 8 minutes, as I have heard him talk before his stint on Hannity today.

Not only did Obama and his handlers work extremely hard to keep his background murky during his campaigns, he has continued to fight the disclosure of information such as his college transcripts after winning two elections.

Dr. Carson excelled in college and in his chosen profession. I suspect that he has college transcripts and a list of professional accomplishments than any man would be proud to share. Obama talks about sharing the wealth and giving people a "hand up" but Ben Carson has done more than talk.

Right. Yet we have people wanting him to run for POTUS.

Maybe we have people wanting to hear more from him, the kinds of things you would hear from a candidate. Again I started this thread to start a conversation about him...no where did I or anyone else say he is "The Man" but several have stated they like what they have heard so far from him.

There are several people that I like what they are saying, Dr. Carson happens to be one.

The good thing is, in case, anyone didn't notice the election isn't this year or even next so we have a good amount of time to digest what any and all of the candidates have to say. The conversation has to start somewhere...

Are you new? We see crap in this forum all of the time that shows it's no different than anywhere else.

We agree on wanting to hear more. I like smart people. He has my attention at a high level.

My point was not in response to your post but between several sites that this gentleman has popped up on. It's not new. It happens all of the time. Remember when Gov Perry was the choice of so many early?

I am interested to see how it develops for Dr. Carson. Politics can be a fascinating spectator sport as well.

I found this article on Dr Carson. Gives a little more detail as to his plan for health care plus his view on public education which I think many will find interesting.

Who Is Dr. Ben Carson? - POLITICO Magazine

"If you happen to be in an affluent community, there’s a lot more money for the schools, better facilities, everything. All that does is perpetuate the situation,” he told me. “Wouldn’t it make more sense to put the money in a pot and redistribute it throughout the country so that public schools are equal, whether you’re in a poor area or a wealthy area?”
