I feel for you DF, I'm sure you are hurting right now.

My heart breaks for you, DF. I know exactly what you are feeling, and your friend's decline sounds remarkably similar to what my Lucky experienced. I still can't wrap my mind around it. I wish I had wise words of comfort to take the shirt away.

So sorry buddy. Hang in there.

Sorry for your loss DF. Pets truly can become part of our families. RIP Butch.

Hate to hear that DF. Love dogs and know how much they can mean and become a part of a family.

DF,

So sorry to hear. They truly are members of our family. I remember the night my lab I grew up with got hit, and dread the day my two labs and Yorkie we have now, pass. Hang in there buddy. Never easy.

Dang DF, sure am sorry for your loss.

Sorry about this DF, very tough to do. Did this once and I cried all the way to the vet and back.

Did anyone else catch the Real Sports segment regarding AKC and their competitions? They showed the skull of an original bulldog with today's version and it's amazing what breeding has done to the breed. Beautiful dogs but I really feel sorry for those dogs due to their health issues.

Had to put down a pet less than a month ago and literally couldn't speak at the vet during check in. Thoughts are with you and hang in there. One foot in front of the next sometimes...

You know that vets are totally used to that.

Sending out hugs to all vet front desk workers who know how much their customers are hurting, but still have to keep on keeping on.

I mentioned it briefly in my initial post, but even through the pain my sentiments were and are with them as well. They may not have been there day to day, but they were very familiar with Butch. We had taken her there for all of her 7 years and they always enjoyed her visits. They all worked with us in the 4 months that we fought whatever was happening, and I could see the distress they had when nothing seemed to work. We had been in for a regular injection the day before we ultimately made this tough decision, and I know they were discouraged too at that point. These people love animals and I know that it has to be tough for them to see them pass on too.

I managed to hold it together while driving there while my wife held Butch. It wasn't until we were in the room that the weight of the situation finally got to me. There have been many tears from us in the past two days. We truly lost a dear member of our family.

My thoughts are with you as well. And amen, it has definitely felt like just making myself function in the last 24 hours.
