Simon Kenton football coach and athletic director Jeff Marksberry has written a proposal to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association commissioner Julian Tackett and the organization’s Board of Control seeking to have Class 6A football playoffs aligned like every other class starting with the 2015 season, when the next four-year district realignment begins.

 

The proposal has support from the other five Northern Kentucky schools that will be in Class 6A starting in 2015 (Boone County, Campbell County, Conner, Cooper and Ryle) and from schools in Central Kentucky.

 

The district realignment plan that was released by the KHSAA on Tuesday has the two Northern Kentucky districts (District 5 and District 6) rotating each year with the two Louisville districts (District 3 and District 4) for the first three rounds of playoffs.

 

They should change the Pioneers to the Foghorn Leghorns! The KHSAA should veto the move to 6A by Cooper and Connor. Move the rest of the NKY schools to 5A and bring the six Jefferson County 5A schools back to the top division. If you are basing the appeal on travel expenses"-which all come out of the gate receipts in the playoffs- then let's return to the days of Jefferson County champion being the top State division champion as well. Could the NKY schools look any more lame? Creating better rivalries among the NKY schools? Are you kidding me? Really? The two districts plus two fifth place Louisville teams squaring off the first three rounds? Building a false sense of importance or success is more like it.

 

Why shouldn't Louisville be a region? It seems from looking at the map on KHSAA, this makes sense. It would break the state into true regions.

And he is the only one that wears both hats. Believe what you want but not all "COACHES, HEAD AND ASSISTANT" share his thought process.

 

Marksberry is not the only one that wears both hats. Nothing wrong with the proposal to set this up from a regional perspective just like the other regions of the State.

Maybe they should let public schools get kids from all over the state and other states like the private schools due even it up a little? Add about 10 kids from Colerain to the SK roster T and X would be crying!

Not a fan of adding classes for private schools. Yes, T and X have an advantage over the majority of 6A schools. Just makes beating them that much sweeter.

It would be nice is all of the surrounding athletic associations were all on the same page. Ohio has a stipulation that in order to play athletics there, @ least one parent has to live in the state. I have heard in the past that we are the only state of any of the contiguous states to Kentucky that do not have a provision against this & allow kids from across the border come & play for KHSAA teams. We also do it to ourselves though, some districts are closed enrollment, others are open, blah blah blah, blah blah.... We cant even get on the same page here.
