Marksberry seeking the path of least resistance comes as a shock? He has built his career on it, and the fine people of Independence have bought it hook line and sinker. Some creative scheduling and the blessing of the growth of S Kenton County has just about everything to do with their success, and I would argue they win in spite of that guy.

 

I don't have a dog in the fight, but Simon Kenton before Marksberry didn't have too many winning seasons. They struggled to beat a team at any level. Yes there has been growth in the Southern Kenton area to help his numbers, but he took a program that was about everybody's homecoming game and made them a very competitive team. Also, he has changed the culture of the team and with open enrollment in Kenton County is getting quality players to go there. Yes he can, and needs to beef up his regular season schedule some, but don't say Simon Kenton is better inspite of him.

You mean those Boone County schools that they own?

I would love to see Simon Kenton go with an all male student population with 2200 males in the building. Then we would have a more level playing field. Could you imagine the combined rosters of Dixie and SK on a single squad? That would be competitive with the Louisville schools.

I cannot follow munoz's observation because certain references are unclear. Here's a quote in which I bracket my questions: "No one is afraid of Louisville 6A schools. Its 2 schools, Trinity and St. X [meaning that X and T are the Louisville 6A schools nobody is afraid of?]. NKY 6A schools can compete with all the other 6A schools in the state [every 6A school in the state?]. But then again no one in the state competes with them [the NKy 6A schools?] consistently so what is the beef [the beef about not traveling to Louisville for playoff games?]. HHS roster is about 110. NKY 6A is typically 85-90. About 1 in 4 males in HHS play football. In other sports, they are completely uncompetitive.

 

Wrong. We don't need to thread jack, but other than boys basketball HHS is competitive in every other sport. If you want to argue - start a thread.

Trinity and X have been the cream of the crop in 6A and have been for awhile. Take them out of the equation and 6A is a pretty wide open field in my opinion. To compare NKY 6A success against them is impossible but just as impossible with comparing the rest of the state's 6A success against Trinity and X. No other 6A schools holds a candle to them when it comes to success. The request by NKY 6A schools was done for the benefit of the NKY districts, not to run from Trinity or X. If someone from NKY is going to make a run they would have to play Trinity or X at some point. Normally you can't win a 6A championship with out facing one of the Big 2 at some point. So if the request is passed or not you will still probably have to face them. So if WKY or NKY 6A face them in the regional round what's the difference. NKY did it for years before it started to rotate. And no NKY was not the ones that wanted that changed. I believe that request came from Coach McKee at Scott County.

Because no region wants to have go through T and X year in and year out. Just about every year other than last year, every one else in 6A is playing for runner up.

They're kind of like the NCAA. They do stuff just because they can.

It strikes a blow at the KHSAA's credibility when they do silly things like this that are inconsistent.
