Yes we get it. Trinity is good. And yes the proposal was to benefit NKY not duck Trinity. You have to play them at some point anyway so how are you ducking them.

 

Dixie elected to play 5A on their own. Nobody left them behind.

I don't look at it as benefiting NKY, I look at it as making it an even playing field compared to all the other districts across the state.

When they win 15 out of 17. BTW, Central KY supports this format as well.

HHS roster is about 110. NKY 6A is typically 85-90. About 1 in 4 males in HHS play football. In other sports, they are completely uncompetitive.

 

Another thread mentioned that SK has 112 on the roster. How does that compare to other NKY 6A? I imagine CC and Dixie might be up there but don't know about Boone and Ryle.

Well I can only tell you that Cooper who will be playing in 6A in 2015 won't have near that number. Last year I think they didn't come close to 60.

Maybe the KHSAA will choose to alter their numbering of regions. How about North and South? Pick your favorite road as the dividing line. :popcorn:

I cant believe there are T and X fans (mostly T) who are justifying kids playing for their program, living in another state.

I remember ~80 last year but 112 total wouldn't surprise me. The success of the program has brought out some big numbers lately. Unfortunately, I can also remember seasons of wondering if we'd have enough to play games. Goes to show that whether you agree or disagree with Jeff, what he's doing is building support for a long dormant program.

I have to admit that I get a kick out of these arguments. Years ago everyone in my area of the state used to make fun of Raceland for never winning in the playoffs. Saying things like, "You all have a good season then lose composure in the playoffs", "yea, you all do well around here but can't beat people from other areas of the state", and my favorite, "you can't win the big game". Now, at the time we were always matched up with what was probably the best district in Class 1A football, NKY. We had to play Beechwood, NCC, and Belvue in the first and second rounds. Almost every year, one of those teams when to, at least, the semi-finals and many years they won the State Championship. Yea, we couldn't win the big game.

 

Now, Raceland goes the other direction in the playoffs and has had good success. Everyone in the area says, "You all finally learning how to win in the playoffs", and "Raceland has built a good program". No, it's always been pretty good, but we are playing different people now.

 

Also, now everyone in our area is complaining about having to play schools like Highlands in the playoffs because those teams are only playing one or two playoff games because they are playing a strong NKY district. Shoe is on the other foot.

 

Now, the NKY Class 6A is complaining because they are playing the strongest 6A district in the playoffs.

 

Sympathy? Not from Ram, folks. Ram's been there, now it's someone else's turn.

NKY 6A has always been matched up with the Louisville District. It wasn't till recently the started rotating district that you saw NKY 6A teams of Ryle and SK go all the way to the finals. So similar to what Ram said they were just playing different people.

I find it hilarious that people are saying NKY is trying to not play Louisville. There are two 3 team districts in NKY but let's send them two hours away for playoff games. That makes no sense. Busses, feeding kids... That stuff isn't cheap for the programs. If the teams win they have to play Louisville schools anyway.. Well if the Louisville schools win. It's all about travel. No one is afraid of the Louisville schools. Yea they are full of talent but anyone can be beat.
