In a perfect world we would seed the teams 1-32 or set up 4, 1-8 brackets. This would cause travel issues which cause gate issues.

I can't speak for everyone, but we have an absurd amount of gate issues in the first two rounds as it is. I know Raceland loses money each year on the first two rounds. Last year our first round opponent brought 10 fans. 10. We had to pay the travel costs for the visiting team our of the gate money from our fans alone. First round of the playoffs was easily our lowest gate of the season. Second round was a little bit better, but still not what you would expect from a second round playoff game, mainly because we had already beaten the visiting team in the regular season, them being a district opponent.

 

The same can be said for the 2012 playoffs, first round team brought 8 fans. Yes, 8. We had to pay for the travel out of the gate, and it was the smallest gate of the season.

You're right about 1 thing, I don't want what the KHSAA has proposed, but in the proposal they are rotating some. To be quite honest I wish they would have left the super district intact and added another school rather then this.

It is easy for the big fish to complain about nobody playing them and call teams out, but in reality there are some coaches at T and X that have failed miserably as head coaches when taken out of the T/X setting.Which former coaches are you referring to?

 

Jim Kennedy left Trinity and helped build Oldham County program.

Dave Moore left Trinity to be an assistant at U of L and then head coach at Evansville.

Roger Gruneisen left Trinity and coached at Paris, Bourbon County and has been in Florida several seasons.

Kevin Wright left Trinity after one season and has been successful in Indiana (currently at Carrnel after Warren Central)after coaching at WKU. He did struggle in Oklahoma one season.

 

St X went from John Meihaus(retired) to Leon Dunagan (never left X) to Bill Glaser (who coached at Morehead State and UK for decades) to Mike Stewart (he never left X). Mike Glaser was in charge for decades (he never left X).

 

Who are you referring to? Trinity OC Coverdale did try coaching Castle in Evansville for 2 years and his passing attack was not appreciated by the locals.

 

As for playing Ohio teams, Trinity did defeat the Ohio Champion when they beat Elder in 2002. Trinity fell to the Ohio Champion Moeller by three points two seasons ago. Trinity is very competitive nowadays with these teams. It doesn't do any good beating lower rung KY schools by 60 points. There are possibly 10 schools that could compete with Trinity in Kentucky on an annual basis.

 

Enrollment wise, Trinity is larger than Moeller, Elder, and has more boys than Colerain. Cincy St. X is larger than Trinity.

 

Indianapolis is fortunate Cathedral does not want to get any larger, and their school's location prevents expansion. They have a waiting list. They have no private schools in their top level. Their better public school football programs have 3000- 5000 students! Their success at educating large number of students at one location cannot be matched in Kentucky apparently.

 

Good luck playing Cooper, Connor, Ryle, and then defeating Lexington or Madison county schools. Scott County will dominate until their board of education forces them to split because that's how Kentucky does it.

No Trinity backer I know likes the new district proposal. It is much less competitive. Manual will never agree to play Trinity outside district competition. Male probably will opt out as well. So, the Rocks picked up teams that are a combined 9-112. (Again, J-town 0-22, Ballard 5-42, Seneca 2-13, Eastern 2-35). What challenge is that? It hurts gate receipts big time. Male, Manual, and the added pleasure of the St X game being a district game was appreciated by the Rock Nation.

I didn't start the thread but I jumped in with both feet because I believe Marksberry proposed this because he and his fellow NKY and Central KY coaches want a Trinity/X free path to the finals every year.

If your athletic director tells you he doesn't care about the income generated by gate receipts, then I am confident he is not speaking the whole truth. I never said the students care about receipts. Hey, don't charge for your games. If it is simply about building rivalries, awesome. Your school systems can't support athletics for long. Your girls sports would have to fold fairly quickly and the male non-revenue sports would disappear as well. Trinity and St. Xavier's largest advantage may be the fact we DO NOT HAVE to deal with Title IX.

I'm not saying the AD's don't care about the money. What I'm saying is to the majority of people that doesn't matter much to the avg fan or player.

Well those are better records than the NKY teams you are whining about. I now realize that all your complaining is that you want an easier path to the finals and that is why you want to keep the lowly NKY teams matched up with T.

Seems like a cop out to me. Male, Scott County and Bowling Green seem to have figured out a way to compete, and win.
