March 26, 201412 yr Don't know how true this is, but read this : He was involved with some kind of ticket scam at UofL a few years ago. Has to be something else right? Masiello was implicated by the guy that was ultimately charged with the crime but no charges were filed against Masiello. The civil suit against him was also dismissed. But let's remember the important part: what's with schools in Florida that can't figure out how to run a background check on a guy BEFORE offering him the job?
March 26, 201412 yr Seriously... How do you offer somebody a job BEFORE you get the background check back?
March 26, 201412 yr I was just logging in to post that Deuce. Why would they not do the background check first? ESPN noted that it's not clear if he will be welcomed back to Manhattan, either. Can you imagine if he loses both jobs over this? Crazy

Can you imagine if he loses both jobs over this? Crazy This makes USF look just as bad as Mass, IMO. Who does that? That is like entry-level hiring type stuff. I won't even "hire" a temp employee without getting the background check first.
March 26, 201412 yr How much background can there be...he is a young guy with little coaching experience.
March 26, 201412 yr @McMurphyESPN: Manhattan’s Steve Masiello had USF job offer pulled because he never graduated from Kentucky, as indicated on resume, sources told @ESPN

March 26, 201412 yr Didn't he serve as a graduate assistant at Louisville? He was definitely on staff, but I'm not sure of his position.
March 26, 201412 yr Well, unfortunately, that seems like something small but that will do it every time. Definitely seems small to me. Why he wouldn't tell the truth and why he wouldn't get hired because of that is kind of stupid on both their parts to me.
March 26, 201412 yr Definitely seems small to me. Why he wouldn't tell the truth and why he wouldn't get hired because of that is kind of stupid on both their parts to me. True, but the bulk of the stupidity has to be with Massiello. Not to mention, considering he played at UK, for him to "earn" a degree from there after his playing days could not have been that difficult.
March 26, 201412 yr Author Randy Newman @bigbluexpress 20m The most interesting thing was that Masiello began at UL as a grad assistant which means he had to be enrolled in grad school. Hmmm
