When teams were deciding to move or stay where they were, were they given privy information on where others teams may end up or was this all done hush hush?

I heard HHS and CCH was going to try and move up to 6A but heard Cooper was moving to 6A so they ran to 5A :thumb:

I heard months ago that Highlands and CCH were going to possibly play up. It intrigued me because I also heard CCH's enrollment is down for incoming freshman??No idea if that is true or garbage out of the rumor mill though

Their football numbers (and talent) were down quite a bit from the past several years this past season, so that rumor may be close to true. I'm hearing that they are moving from the NKMSAA to playing in the GCL at the middle school level next year.

For what it's worth, Cov Cath's enrollment for next year might be down comparatively...they've had two of their biggest incoming classes ever the last two years, if I'm not mistaken. But that doesn't particularly mean they're going to be getting much smaller. Additionally, in terms of their football size classifications are apparently determined with an average of multiple years of attendance, so the impact will not be seen directly.

I always thought they would only approve moves based on geography and lack of current close opponents. It looks like HHS, CCH and Scott would have made up a district along with Holmes and maybe Harrison Co. Not sure why the moves for those 3 were approved.

In the earlier release, if I understood it correctly, the KHSAA was offering teams the choice to play up in class, period. I don't think there were travel or geographical stipulations; the only requirement was your desire to play in a higher class.

Incoming Freshman class is at 150+ the last I heard and they usually pick up a handful more before school starts, so they will be down less than 10 kids from a very large class last year.Total enrollment will increase to almost 600 students next year,

The line is low on depth though so that will have to play itself out. They've played for the championship every year since joining in 2009 (and winning the championship all but one of those years) and that streak was broken this year, losing in the first round of the playoffs. They did have some talent at QB, but overall they seemed small, and not very physical, especially compared to years past. Obvious, a lot can and will change, but they seem to be quite a bit behind where they traditionally are.

You also have to remember the middle school team is made of kids in the catholic grade schools.

True. I'm not sure how big that number is, although I'm not aware of any impact players that will be leaving the public schools to go to Cov Cath. And last year could have simply been a result of the public schools getting a little better rather than Cov Cath getting a little worse.

Doubt if anyone knows and it seems that no reason needed to be given this time around. I know historically HHS has often played up 1 to 2 levels and I assume it was always due to district competition and travel. I also assume the same goes for CCH. It would be interesting to know what went into the decisions for a lot of these schools.

They used to enjoy beating BG every year in the finals, they are sick of BG boasting about their state titles in a class without them, so they are simply out to ruin the Purples' fun. Just speculating. :lol2:
