I say keep those 6 schools in the same district. I really like it because I am one who is all for 4 teams making the playoffs and having a 6 team district makes each game very important in district play.

 

I'd love to have a district of

Cooper, Conner, Ryle, Boone, Sk and Campbell Co.

 

Cooper and Conner already have a great rivalry going, now add the other 2 Boone County schools to the mix and there is a great rivalry being born even before the first district game is played.

 

With all that said, Cooper would be the 2nd smallest school in 6A and not sure how competitive they can be outside the district. That leads me to believe the main reason for Cooper moving up is to cut down on travel during district play because if they would of stayed put they would have no schools close to them to play and would have nightmare travel to road games.

 

I guess schools don't get any inkling as to what other schools are doing since if they stayed put it sounds like they might be in a district with HHS, Grant, CCH and Dixie.

I feel bad for Atherton. They really don't have a good option any way they go. Doss, I could see becoming competitive. But given the make up of the magnet @ Atherton, it's just not going to be a football school.

If you look at it geographically, like the KHSAA does, moving Campbell County to a Scott Co. district makes no sense. It makes more sense geographically to move Ryle to the Scott Co. district IF YOU HAVE TO MOVE ANOTHER TEAM. I see a 5 team district with Campbell Co. and the four Boone Co. schools.

But that creates a 3 team district and I would think the KHSAA would want to avoid doing that again.

Yes, but there are only 32 teams in the class. So each district, in theory, would only have 4 teams.

Who else gets added to CCH/Highlands/Dixie? Grant County? After that, looks like the next closest might be Oldham County.

I'd say that since it says that some schools have accepted moving down and some have refused that the classes are pretty much done. IMO KSHAA is done with the moving of classes and will next be releasing the districts.

 

And looking at 2A eastern KY is not going to be pretty. If this is rock solid then at least 2 districts are going to be very spread out. Some may only have 1 district opponent within an hours drive if that.

I'm guessing it would be South Oldham since they've been up north with Scott, Cooper, Conner and Grant the last 3 years. Scott, Cooper, Conner out, and Dixie, Highlands, Cov Cath in. That will be a real meat grinder district. Too bad for Grant, as they are definitely improving, and the three teams that are leaving are looking to be down a little the next couple years.
