As long as Highlands and CovCath are in the same class, I'm happy. There's no such thing as a State Title that doesn't go through Highlands.

I believe the difference many don't see is that the playoff structure in 5A is set in stone every year (D1 plays D2, D3 plays D4, etc.) whereas in 6A we rotate districts around (presumably so the same district wouldn't get 'stuck' every year with T/X).

 

That would allow a team like Conner or Cooper to have only a 1 in 7 chance each year to be matched up with a team like that (assuming T/X stay in the same district again) as opposed to being matched up with or in the same district with Highlands/CovCath EVERY year.

Sorry--I didn't mean to imply they were definitely going to 6A in order to 'duck' anyone that might be in 5A. Just giving a rationale for why it might be better for a school to choose to be in 6A strictly b/c of the rotating nature of the playoff system.

 

I have no idea why any particular school might want to play in a different class than their enrollment suggests they should play. I simply wanted to state one way 6A was different than other classes and, thus, why a school MIGHT want to 'play up.'

I say keep those 6 schools in the same district. I really like it because I am one who is all for 4 teams making the playoffs and having a 6 team district makes each game very important in district play.

 

I'd love to have a district of

Cooper, Conner, Ryle, Boone, Sk and Campbell Co.

 

Cooper and Conner already have a great rivalry going, now add the other 2 Boone County schools to the mix and there is a great rivalry being born even before the first district game is played.

 

With all that said, Cooper would be the 2nd smallest school in 6A and not sure how competitive they can be outside the district. That leads me to believe the main reason for Cooper moving up is to cut down on travel during district play because if they would of stayed put they would have no schools close to them to play and would have nightmare travel to road games.

 

I am confident 6A will remain 8 four team districts. Trinity, Ballard, Jeffersontown, and Eastern should be one district. Ah, the trips to Herr Lane, Old Shelbyville Rd, and Old Six Mile Lane bring back such warm and fuzzy memories.......:thumb:

When they have St. X and Trinity in 6A, I don't think they are running from Highlands and CCH. I think it is actually kind of cool that all four Boone schools are now in the same class and district. And don't discount the fact that Boone County Schools is going to save some money on travel.

 

The other thing, I don't doubt that all these schools will be 6A by size by the time the next realignment comes around.

D6 Covington Catholic, Dixie Heights, Grant County, Highlands, Montgomery Co.

Well I guess if you looked at the power ratings from last year and probably the year before you would see that they were considered one of the states top teams. Dixie hasn't beaten CCH in forever, so throw in Highlands and I think you can see why the poster said to give credit to Dixie for moving into a district with them both.

That is my point. If CCH could actually beat HHS on a somewhat consistent basis then I could see them being considered a favorite for 5A, but the fact that they are as succesful as just about any other school then that is why they shouldn't be mentioned as a favorite.

The post also stated that it was in part tongue in cheek because the post it was replying to made it sound as if CCH was something special and Dixie was actually to be commended for taking on the best teams in the state when in reality CCH shouldn't even be put in that category. HHS yes, CCH not so much. CCH was simply riding on HHS coattails in that comment. CCH may want to win their district once before being considered a top team in the state.

Power rankings, lol. What round of the playoffs did CCH make it to the last couple years? That's what I thought. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the last state title CCH won was in 2006 right? Thatt doesn't sound like in the same level as HHS or BG who have both won multiple titles since then, a combined 9 titles to be exact.

 

Try using common sense instead of a warped bias and you will see that no one truly thinks CCH will win state next year or the year after etc. they won't make it past the NKY teams in the playoffs so maybe they should work on that first before thinking they are the favorite to win state.
