They actually picked the right time to do it. BG graduated the 3 best offensive tandem they've ever had.

What about 6A? Doesn't look pretty in the North and the West. 6 northern KY 6A, and now 5 6A in the West. Lexington works out perfectly with 8 teams, Louisville and surrounding Hardin County have 13 schools. Khsaa is going to have to go with some odd numbers in districts to make it work. Does everyone still make the playoffs? Rotate districts for playoffs? Really a mess. What happens when Fayette County builds the new school, will that change it all again?

I like districts with more than 4 teams I. Because it makes the district games mean more when everyone doesn't make the playoffs.

I think the reason Highlands had to move up to 5A is 99.9% of the time the same reason any school uses to move. It doesn't surprise me at all and I get a good laugh when some think the reason teams move up is because of competition etc. It always comes down to money and when you can save money as well as make it more convenient for your fans etc. to see games then that will win out the majority of time.

 

Cooper and Conner with the opportunity to play in the same class as all the other schools in their county only makes sense if they can do it. They all play each other every year anyway so why not make it also more convenient but build up rivalries within the schools is only an added plus.

 

It is also the same reason Cooper played up when they first opened because there wouldn't have been any schools close to them that would of been in their district if they didn't play up.

Seems like it's been made pretty clear in the past that the only reason you could move up was due to the geographical issues and costs of travel. It sounds like this was the first time, at least that I'm aware of, that no reason needed to be given.

I wonder if Cooper and Ryle will still be able to kick off their seasons with each other in 2015, if they are in the same district. Currently there are designated weeks for district games based on the state scheduling block.

The KHSAA wants 8, 4 team districts. There are going to be schools in NKY and WKY that will have to travel a little more.

Fern Creek will go with the Bullitt County schools.

 

Also, Nelson County will go with the Bullitt County schools as well. Their reasoning for playing up was the geographic logisitcs for travel, and their reasoning was bc of the Bullitt County schools all being within a 20-30 minute drive from them.

 

It will look like this.

D2: Barren County, BG, Grayson County, Greenwood

D3: Atherton, Doss, Fairdale, Southern, Iroquois

D4: Bullitt Central, Bullitt East, North Bullitt, Fern Creek, Nelson County

D5: Probably the same

D6: Probably the same

D7: Probably the same, with the addition of Southwestern (same district it is now)

D8: Probably the same, minus Southwestern.

6 A will probably be:

 

-4 of the 5 WKY schools

-The most north or east of the WKY will probably be with the Hardin Schools and maybe a Louisville school or Madison Central.

-4 of the 6 NKY schools would be a district. The other 2 will probably be with Scott County and Bryan Station.

-the rest of Louisville and Lexington will be split up into the others.

 

Some schools will have to travel more and some will travel because others decided to play up.
