Wilson for Campbell quit looking for his shot in the 2nd half. Several times he would get the ball in the paint with room to get a shot off but would kick it back outside. I think this was a key in the Camel's loss, along with the team's sloppy ball handling and passing.

 

He is a nice player with a lot of upside. I was surprised when I learned he was only a sophomore. He plays older than that.

I don't think they look for Hall enough on the offensive end either. I've seen them play a few times this season, and they very rarely (to my knowledge) run many plays for him. He's small in size physically, but his athleticism makes up for it at the high school level. Like I saw someone say earlier, I'd like to see them run more sets with Gullett and Hall on the same side of the ball. It forces the defense to decide if they want to double down on Hall in the paint because Gullett is a high percentage threat from deep. Johnson Central has lived off their defensive pressure this season and that's what won this one for the Eagles. Outstanding game to watch. That's what a state tournament game is all about.

Gullett was really impressive for Johnson Central, as was Camels big man Matt Wilson. He was outstanding for the bulk of the postseason.

 

Congrats to Coach Russell and the Camels, and I especially want to congratulate Corey Holbrook on a terrific career. Thoroughly enjoyed watching that young man play.

I've never seen a team with two big guys who are of the skill set that Gullett and Hall have not run practically any Hi-Lo sets where one gets at the free throw line and uses his size to feed into the other in the post either.

The final stats had the Camels with 14 turnovers. It sure seemed like a lot more than that.

Everytime I have watched JC play, Gullett is the one tht impressed me the most. I too want to say Congrats to the CC Camels. Very proud of the way you represented the 10th region!!!!

Congrats to JC on the win and to the Camels on the season that quite frankly, many of us thought wasn't going to happen until next year.

As much publicity that Shane Hall gets, he plays really soft. It is the first time I have seen him play and came away unimpressed.

On the flip side, the sophomore Matt Wilson for Campbell County has improved as much as anyone in the 10th Region.

Wilson went for 16 and 21. Excellent game for the young kid.

Campbell County didn't handle the last 30 seconds well at all.

I have said for a few years now that Hall is way over hyped. He won't long at Marshall playing like he does. He will end up at UPike if Kelly will take him. Very happy for Matt Wilson, heck of game. Tom Fischer takes all credit for his development in his younger years:)

I think the last play drawn up by Campbell County had a lot, lot of action for a play that you were hoping to run to go the length of the floor and get a good shot in 4 seconds.

 

I actually think you have to credit JC for how they showed one thing and then did another on the movement of the ball. I don't think the ball was intended to go to Wilson in the middle of the floor. When he caught it he looked surprised and held it and gave up valuable time when it was finally kicked up to the wing he had a shot but tried to drive and time expired. Congrats to JC. Felt the coaching staff won the last play of the game there.
