Out of curiosity, which region's referees are officiating this tournament? Did this have an impact?

6th. I always thought they let them play in Louisville too.

They are from the KBOA which serves regions 6 and 7.

Pretty tight whistle. Lots of hand checks called. Montgomery had several starters sitting on the bench with foul trouble and Brossart had their top 2 players foul out in the 4th.

I don't think the officiating was very lopsided, but due to their limited depth I think it hurt Brossart more

Good assessment, would agree

I'm glad you acknowledged that. That was the best rendition of the National Anthem have heard anywhere in a long time

Agreed best rendition I've heard in many yrs.

I was shocked so many people on here picked Brossart like it wasn't even going to be close.

I agree. I was very surprised by the BGP poll that had the game basically as a toss up.

Montgomery Co is a top 15 team in the state, and while Brossart is solid, I don't think there was anything about the match-up that would seem to give Brossart an edge.

Brossart didn't play well at all. But actually besides the two big guys, they are very thin. Guard play killed them.

Guard play got them beat against Campbell in the district final as well. Offensively and defensively...

Montgomery County looked like a different ballclub in the second half, and used their quickness/athleticism to advantage. We were getting shots swatted that don't normally get blocked, and our pockets picked on occasions that we don't normally give it up. It is simply impossible to duplicate that scenerio at practice. They also hit shots and lots of them including a pair of threes just before the half to give MoCo momentum and a 24-21 lead. Wallace was really good. I wasn't a fan of the geriatric official. Makes one appreciate what we have here in the 10th with the Bluegrass Officials Association.

I felt we had some opportunities early that we didn't cash in on, and that MoCo played rather lethargically in the first half. They really shifted gears in the second half. Got us down 10/12 and it pretty much remained that way. Trentman and Burns fouling out and our having to extend our defense put the nail in the coffin and brought a pretty strong era of basketball orchetrated by these seniors, to an end.

Alex Trentman concludes his career by stringing 30 consecutive (including 2 from last year) double-figure performances together.

Brossart stayed with the Indians for a half. MoCo came out a different team in the 3rd quarter on both sides of the ball. When Cicero had to sit with foul trouble, Jones stepped up. Brossart's lack of depth really showed in the second half as someone already mentioned; the pace seemed to tire them and they pretty much had to stay with their starters as long as they could hold out/not foul out.

As always, watching the game with Randy and his entourage was enjoyable. We both rated the popcorn a solid 9. Got to speak with JJ's dad and grandpa; and catching up with Mustang after the game was my pleasure. TAC - good luck to you and yours as a new chapter begins.

Congrats to both teams on a solid season. With heavily senior-laden rosters it will be real interesting to see what both squads bring to the table next season.

And thus two solid high school careers come to an end, good luck to Alex Trentman and Drew Burns. Two of the best to wear a Brossart uniform. :ylsuper:

Will be very interested to see if both coaches of these schools are back next season, as their JV and Freshman squads were very average

No chance that Code goes anywhere.

What about retiring?

Moco's JV only lost three games this year. Best win probably at Scott County.
