What happened? Sometimes an intentional is called when it is an excessively hard foul EVEN if the defender was making a play on the ball.

He was running down player from behind and reached around him just as he was going up and appeared to actually pin the ball against the Montgomery County player. A few Montgomery County fans sitting behind me didn't think it was an intentional foul and neither did I.

 

Game was over by that point anyway.

It was definitely not called for being a hard foul. The Montgomery player was going up for a layup on a fast break and the Brossart player kind of reached around and grabbed him.

 

I think the official was justified in making the call, but I think it could have just as easily been a common foul. It wasn't the wrong call, but I'm not sure it was necessary.

 

The game was basically over by that point, so it didn't have any effect on the outcome.

at that point of the game and the play itself I just felt it was an unnecessary call. He made a basketball play and there wasnt anything excessive about it

Congrats to the Brossart Sr's especially Trentman and Burns both very nice players.

Those2 had very great careers but could not have posted the numbers they posted without the help of the rest of the team especially the other 4 seniors.

Jake Jennings who came back early from a broken hand to try to get them on a state run. Super quick and was the floor general.

Sharp shooter Erik Reiger, lit it up from behind the arc, handled the point when Jennings was out and a great defender.

Austin Shannon, first off the bench and always gave great minutes. Very good athlete and did what ever they asked of him. Great passer as well.

Ted McDonald. The fan favorite. Has been nursing a broken hand for over a year. Decided to suit up knowing he may never be cleared for action. Got his release very late in the season. Did not get a ton of minutes, but look for him to walk on on a football program next spring. 3 sport athlete and great student.

Speaking of being great students. All 6 Brossart seniors are honor students in the class room.

That one was simply a bad call. I can understand arguments either way on close charge/block calls, but that was BY FAR the worst call of the evening.

I thought this was a poor call, but I believe it was based on the previous possession. Shannon had a good hard foul across both arms and didn't allow the offensive player to get a shot up, not excessive or flagrant, the next trip was, IMO, an attempt by the official to prevent something. It did not exist there, was good stoppage foul but not intentional.

Agreed. It happened right in front of me and I thought the kid nearly got all ball.

The one that got me was the Montgomery Player slamming the ball down right in front of the official. The ball went at least 20 feet straight up in the air.. Kinda caught me off guard, so maybe I missed something.. Should official have handled this differently other than ignore it?
