ChickenWyngz
Luke signed with the Pirates yesterday. Easy trip from home and a lot more trips to home for him during the season! Very cool! How much longer does he need to hang on to get a pension?
Voice of Reason
Easy trip from home and a lot more trips to home for him during the season! Very cool! How much longer does he need to hang on to get a pension? You only need 43 days to qualify for the pension.

How much longer does he need to hang on to get a pension? 34 for 43. 43 days in the Bigs will get you the league minimum $34K per year annual pension. I'm assuming Luke has that covered. 4 Quarters
Luke signed with the Pirates yesterday. It's a paycheck and no punching a timeclock.
swamprat
It's a paycheck and no punching a timeclock. I'd say. It's a one year contract. $900,000 if he makes the big league roster, $325,000 if he is in the minors. Considering the average AAA salary is $82K, good for him. I hope his upcoming season is more like 2018, though. That will keep him in the majors for most of the year.
Voice of Reason
Luke had a respectable up trend going till last year. He is highly rated defensively. If he can get back to the 2018 offense, he could have another 5 years in the majors. Here is an article about the Maile signing: Ben Cherington Gives Update On Pittsburgh Pirates Coaching Staff From the article: If Maile can have an offensive season even close to what he had in 2018, the Pirates will find themselves with a very good MLB catcher in Maile. Another noteworthy item with Maile is that he still has a minor league option left. Due to this, the Pirates could always add another catcher still and stash Maile away at the Triple-A level as the organization’s third catcher to start the season. While Cherington has added Maile, it is safe to say the Pirates are not done at catcher this offseason. Cherington has made it known another top priority this offseason is to add a young catching prospect to the Pirate farm system. All signs continue to point toward that coming via a Starling Marte trade.
John Anthony
If they add a young prospect Luke should be #2 to break camp.
Voice of Reason
If they add a young prospect Luke should be #2 to break camp. They would have to clearly like Maile more than Stallings. Plus Maile has a minor league option left. Luke will need to impress the Pirates enough in spring training that they are willing to cut Stallings.
