Who can stop Hopkinsville?

Featured Replies

Hopefully they go down next Tuesday to my set of Tigers, but even I doubt we slow them down. Hoptown is VERY good, fast, and they cause a lot of chaos for their opponents' guards.

I was told Hoptown beat Trinity in a preseason scrimmage, which doesn't mean much. They length, quickness, and a deep bench. SR Tra Edwards 6'2" point guard and JR Jaqualis Matlock 6'5" forward are there best players.

Welcome to BGP! :thumb:

No, they lost to Ft. Myers out of Florida and Park Tudor out of Indianapolis one of the top teams in Indiana.

They'd be a solid 7th region team.

This is not true. Trinity did not play Hoptown this summer or in the preseason.

Hoptown is loaded. The Matlock kid is a beast down low

Is it accurate to say "Only Hopkinsville can stop Hopkinsvile"?

And people wonder why hardly anyone from WKY posts in the bball forum. If it's not 7th, 9th, 11th, or 14th this year, your team gets dismissed. To be a top 5 team in the state, NO ONE outside of this thread is talking about them. So yeah, they have a solid chance to win state if right cards fall into place. Same can be said for just about the winner of every region.

I think so. Seems to be the case so far.

They'd be a solid 7th region team.

They'd be #3 in the 7th, and probably number one in any other region.

They have wins over the top team in the 1st, 4th, 5th and (arguably) 11th.

I would love to see them play at MoCo Saturday, but that is the same time as the UK game.

I actually get to see Hopkinsville more than the other top teams because I live in W.KY. However, to be fair, the forum has had quite a bit of conversation about how good this team is. One of the problems is the coach doesn't list any statistics for their games, so unless someone posts specifically about the game, then it is hard for other people to comment.

That being said, I personally think Hopkinsville is the 2nd best team in the state. I think they would beat Trinity on a neutral court, but it would be close. They can beat Ballard for sure, but Ballard is the better team. If they played 10 times, Ballard would win 6 times to Hoptown's 4.

Any of the top 10 to 15 teams can beat each other at any given time tho (PRP vs Ballard) and that is what makes me excited about the sweet 16.

The team that beats Hoptown, and I'm assuming they have most of their team back from last year's state tournament, is the team that can force the Tigers to play their game, not the run and gun type game that they like. That will take a team with strong fundlemental guards that are rarely turned over, and can force Hopkinsville into a halfcourt grinding type game.
