Who can stop Hopkinsville?

Featured Replies

Hopkinsville is the real deal, no doubt about it. I felt they went through a stretch were they weren't playing great basketball but they seem to have that worked out now. Mark it down, Hoptown is a legitimate threat to win it all (not the region - ALL).

Hummmm,,,,from the guy who said it would be an upset if anyone stayed within single digits of Ballard in the LIT and the guy who would be stunned if Ballard doesnt win it all?

Is Waffle House your favorite restaurant?

I will be absolutely stunned if Ballard doesn't win it all.

I think it was a major upset at the LIT. I wish the tournament would have been seeded properly so that Ballard didn't have to play two top 10 teams on the same day.

Ballard, PRP, Doss, Holmes, Trinity, NCC, CCH, Scott Co, Lafayette. All of these will run with anyone and can play with anyone. Just put Hoptown in that group of teams that can make a run and win it all. Of the mentioned teams and there may be more, only4 of them can make the state.

You are right with Ballard and Trinity, maybe PRP,,but the rest can not touch Hoptown

LOL, there is a handful. Ballard and Trinity for sure. Hoptown is lucky they would only have to face one of them to win state. Etown has given them their closest game in state so far. They should have won the Park Tudor game, they made a great comeback but seemed to lose momentum after the blackout.

A team from Hopkinsville has won the state tournament over 10% of the time since 1985

Hoptown is very talented but anyone can have an off night. Last year Madisonville almost got them in region which noone expected. This year Henderson County gave them all they wanted within 2 with 3:00 to go when Simmons fouled out. Simmons played 13 minutes and Duckworth went out early with an injury. Hoptown has the most talent in the region but getting to state is never easy.

Purple Pride don't think I have to try again. I said they are having a very good year but in state they have beated only one team currently in the top 20 team. Not saying they can't win it all, but should the season just stop now and have the state champion ceremony in H-town, and for go the rest of the season. There is a LONG list of teams in all high school sports in Kentucky and everywhere else that has most of their team back from last year and doesn't duplicate what they did the previous year. One bad night from the field in the regional and/or state tourney and game over for any team.

You compared the original poster to the most over zealous fan on the site for asking a simple question. I disagree with that.

They have defeated Lafayette, Warren Central and Henderson County. All have been ranked or are ranked in someone's poll somewhere.

They returned quality players from a final four team. How are the other final four teams doing that returned quality players?

Yep, one bad night in late February or early March and the season is over and Hoptown is not exempt from that.

Wow. Pretty incredible fact. Hoptown, UHA, and Christian County. I'm guessing that per capita, they are probably up there for total number of state championships in based on the population of their county.

Also, welcome to BGP.

True story. Also, welcome to BGP as well. Let us know if you have any questions.

hey guys ive seen hoptown a bunch of times im from hopkinsville and no im not biased i know the game and will give credit to any team that is good and love to toalk general basketball to anyone. hoptowns size gives them advantages against most teams. i have seen ballard at hoopfest i think ballard is better than hopkinsville overall but hoptown can beat ballard i dont think its a huge gap between the teams. hoptowns full court press defense i have found reeks havoc on guards. hoptowns size makes it to where the teams cant throw over it and panic in the backcourt as someone above said hopkinsville makes it a track meet which is true. this hoptown team is better than last years. they lost majors but picked up christian countys 6'6 poindexter. matlock is alot better this year his shooting is still questionable which is the weakness with them i think. tra edwards gets to the basket at will. i watched em play warren central and he was the guy that rallied them back to win. his athletism and 42 inch vertical makes him very agile around the basket and is a very smooth player. people can say matlock is the best player which isnt true edwards is by far the go to guy. ill try to keep everyone updated on west ky ball.

i saw another thread dated back where its was top 25 players and edwards is by far in the top ten i know a bunch of you all said yall havent seen hoptown but if get past henderson in regions i promise tra edwards will def be a talk of the tournament. Oklahoma state is looking at him hard this year. averaging 23 points a game i think.

there is a video of full game on ihigh of hoptown playing marshall county at hoopfest if anyone wants to watch. thats where i watched ballard of lvilles games is on ihigh.
