I'm shocked that fans of schools who benefited from transfers are so against Cordia. I see no difference between NCC and Cordia situation, except distance each people moved . I have no problem with either situation. Just seems silly.

I thought Cordia is a Public school and part of the Knott Co System.

 

It is a public school in the Knott County school district. Hiwever, I believe it started out as a private school many years ago but was absorbed into the Knott system back in the 1960s. I may be wrong about the date but I think it's around that time.

When old Knott County High, Hindman High, and Carr Creek consolidated in the mid-70's to form Knott County Central, Cordia was not added. I was told by a KCC school official that it was because of the long trip from the Lotts Creek area to KCC, the location is not far from Hazard. If I'm not mistaken Cordia has a Hazard P.O. address.

According to the article they transferred to make up for missed credits to graduate on time. Hoops was never in the discussions. Not sure why it would be an issue now?

 

If that is the case then I support Khsaa. If the only reason they transferred was for academics ( although I have my doubts) then let them get busy in the classroom and don't worry about Basketball because apparently that wasn't a concern in the first place.

Cordia and everything about the program stinks of wrongdoings. Sorry Coach, but I don't like what you're doing at the school and your giving the school a black eye.

Why does it seem that most of the posters against allowing these transfers to play are fans and supporters of Private Schools?

If these kids just want to play then they can play in their hometowns, and countries.

Again, if Cordia wasn't a threat people wouldn't care who was on their team. At all. I know it. You know it. We all know it.

 

People always talk all that crap about academics being more important than athletics but I tell you, people worry a whole lot more about who is playing what instead of who is learning what.

For those talking about the spirit of the game and how it's about kids' hometowns and playing for their counties:

 

You do realize that Perry Central has two transfers, one from Wolfe County, who is the son of a former UK player, and one from Philadelphia, correct? (Two kids from Philadelphia was the rumor I'd heard all summer, but apparently only one panned out).

 

You do realize that Knott Central's Cameron Justice started out at East Ridge and they got a kid in Keegan Simmons who came in from Bath County this year, correct?

 

You do realize that Hazard's Chris Hudson came from Texas to Cordia, then transferred to Hazard, and that they have 3 exchange students awaiting eligibility rulings, correct?

Let me be clear.

 

I have no problem with them being allowed to play. Their parents made a decision. Their parents bought a house in the district. Their parents met the criteria for the boys to play. God bless them. Glad they're having success.

 

The Cordia boys , until proven they broke a rule, should be allowed to play as well.

"Recruiting" is the issue here isn't it. Is it recruiting for a HS coach to approach a middle school player and tell him he'd like for him to come to his school when he get's to high school? Is it recruiting when parents decide to send their kids to a school with a power house athletics even though it is in another district, city or state? Is it recruiting when players from surrounding counties and even across state lines decide to go to a school with a strong football program because they have a great "Tradition"?

 

I guess it is only recruiting if kids from the wrong side of the tracks have an opportunity to get out of a bad situation to improve their academic and athletic situation.

 

Anybody saying these kids or parents received anything for them coming to Cordia?
