Dinner: what did you have?

We were in Cleveland Ohio last week. A former player at GRC, Vinny Zollo goes to Cleveland St which was right across from our hotel. His apt was only one block from us. We took him out to eat at a Mexican restaurant on 4th street that he picked out for us. The whole street was restaurants with patios and no car traffic, just people walking. It was really neat. Food was good too. I had a taco salad made with big grilled shrimp.

We ate at a joint called Burgers and Beer one night. Neither me or my husband drink, but the food was really good. He had a huge big burger, I had the grilled chicken sandwich with spinach and fries. The fries had a special seasoning which I really liked.

We are going to a graduation cookout for my great niece today in Taylorsville. They are supplying all the grilled meats and the rest is potluck. I am taking a salad made from fresh lettuce, spinach and radishes out of my garden. I also added tomatoes, green onions, peppers, bacon and cubed jack cheese. I also made a fresh salsa with cilantro our of my herb garden to serve with nacho chips.

12 of us took a trip to the cabin this weekend. Had burgers and mets with seasoned fries Friday night. Saturdays breakfast was goetta patties, eggs, and fried potatoes. Beer and bourbon for lunch, then grilled steak, shrimp, fresh scrod, baked crab cakes and broccoli casserole for dinner. Had a great time with some friends from my high school years, some that I haven't seen in years.

Angel hair pasta, homemade sauce with ground lamb. Green beans, strawberry shortcake (strawberries from the local farmer's market).

Yesterday we went to my son's 40th birthday party over in Apopka. I supplied the wings. Got 150 of them, naked and spicy, from the Publix Deli. They never let me down.

Some lady brought a casserole made with ground turkey, turkey bacon, and potatoes. She was standing right there when I was my plate, so to be a nice guy I took some. It was good, but that is the first I've had of potatoes in a long, long time. Caught myself digging into the Cheetos, too. Did it without realizing what I was doing.

Bad Swampy ... Bad Boy!!

My godfather gave me some filets of crappie and bluegill. Had the mother in law out, so deep fried the fish and some fries.

Yummy.

Is your godfather Mustang?

Is your godfather Mustang?

He is not, pretty sure Mustang is mostly a catch and release type of guy. But if he decided to bring me a few filets I'd gladly cook some up for him.

So I just went to Mustangs website and he has made a liar out of me. He has an image of big plate of Walleye they fried up.

All you guys talking about steaks and such....I really need to get my grill back up and running. Think that's going to be my project for tonight.

Fried Bologna sandwiches with grilled onions, tomato and mustard. Grippos seasoned sliced potatoes in the oven.
