January 27, 201511 yr Females or the sandwiches? Both, as far as Hardees goes. I've never seen a female or sandwich from there that looks anything like the commercials.
January 27, 201511 yr I'm going to piggy-back on this post to ask a general question of the board: Who among you grew up referring to Sloppy Joes as "Maid-Rites?" I ask because this is what my mom — who grew up on a pig farm in Iowa — and her sisters always called them. Never heard them called that.
January 28, 201511 yr Never heard them called that. I did some reading, and apparently it's a midwestern thing. There's apparently a chain of "Maid-Rite" restaurants that specialize in the sandwiches. They are a bit different from what most folks think of as sloppy joes. Not near as tomato-y, and the sauce is thinner and has a little bit of a different bite to it. Tough to explain.
January 28, 201511 yr Had to go with the skillet on the stove, but cooked up some venison burgers (have one for tomorrow's lunch too). For the first time, I put some mesquite seasoning on them. Really tasted good. Also had some potatoes and green beans.
January 28, 201511 yr Fresh Market ground chuck cheeseburgers, with thick slices of Velveeta cheese and bacon. Best ground chuck I have bought. Loaded French Fries. Fresh Blueberries for dessert.
January 28, 201511 yr Sloppy Joe's turned out OK. Need to work on the seasonings to get it more where I like it. Not enough brown sugar... :lol2:
January 28, 201511 yr Took the left over grilled pork chops from last night, sliced them up, and made a big yummy salad. Picked up a 1/2 loaf of cheddar/jalapeño bread to go with it.

About 15 minutes. Thanks. Mine was fairly close, but I seasoned the beef mixture with some smoked paprika and chilli powder which is why I needed some more brown sugar...
January 28, 201511 yr Mrs. TAC and I had another BGP member and his bride down the house tonight for bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. Blanched/sautéed green beans, twice baked potatos, brussel sprouts. 4 games of Euchre afterwards. Guys took 3 of 4!!!

Dinner looks great, and it's been a long time since I played Euchre.
January 28, 201511 yr I'd like it twice if I could. Dinner looks great, and it's been a long time since I played Euchre. Had a great time. Both couples are empty nesters. Trying to alternate dinners once a month. Ended up having a few cocktails and quite a few laughs. Mrs. TAC is currently 'resting her eyes' on the couch as I type this. LOL.
January 28, 201511 yr The wife is out of town so I had a burger on the grill; the cold can't stop me.
January 28, 201511 yr I'd like it twice if I could. Dinner looks great, and it's been a long time since I played Euchre. Almost every Wednesday evening for me. Heading out in a few minutes.
