January 11, 201412 yr Arbitrator reduced suspension from 211. I'll keep my personal opinion out of this.
January 11, 201412 yr Why keep your personal opinion out? My personal opinion - A-Rod is the most offensive steroids cheater of all of them. A lifetime ban is the only thing I would be happy with.

January 11, 201412 yr Yanks will be allowed to deduct his salary from the salary cap calculation and avoid paying the luxury tax.
January 11, 201412 yr Yanks will be allowed to deduct his salary from the salary cap calculation and avoid paying the luxury tax. IMO, that is unfair. The Yankees signed him they should have to live with the consequences also.
January 11, 201412 yr IMO, that is unfair. The Yankees signed him they should have to live with the consequences also. But they're not going to pay him next season, right? Why should someone's salary count towards the cap if they're not paying him?
January 11, 201412 yr IMO, that is unfair. The Yankees signed him they should have to live with the consequences also. Why? The Yankees are paying A-Rod to do his "job" honestly and effectively. When you are cheating to get results, why should they have to continue paying him in full for his contract? I hate the Yankees as much as the next guy but they shouldn't be entitled to pay a guy who is cheating to get results.
January 11, 201412 yr In not other organization in the country would this money not count towards some sort of a tax.
January 11, 201412 yr IMO, that is unfair. The Yankees signed him they should have to live with the consequences also. They do live with the consequences. They have no third baseman and a hole in the middle of their lineup. He is still under contract after his suspension.
January 11, 201412 yr Thought he would just get 81 games next year, suprising it's the whole season. Not that it matters, his career is all but over at this point. Such a shame with all the talent he had, course you could say that if he has in fact been using since 90's his whole career was predicated on cheating.
January 11, 201412 yr Sad part is, even after his suspension, Yankees on the hook for $61m after he comes back. Ouch
January 12, 201412 yr I'm torn. Why is what he did any worse than others that have been caught or proven to use in the past?
January 12, 201412 yr IMO, that is unfair. The Yankees signed him they should have to live with the consequences also. I guess Tony LaRussa and Joe Torre, should be kept out of the Hall of Fame as well.
January 12, 201412 yr I'm torn. Why is what he did any worse than others that have been caught or proven to use in the past? Cuz he's a jerk, that's why. If A-Rod was a more likable person he wouldn't be beat down over this. However people don't like him or his attitude and want to crucify him for every steroid ever used in Baseball.

Banned in 91 but not tested for until 2003, I'd guess there are 100's of players that got away with steroids and many of them are or will be in the HoF. 75% of players by some estimation were illegally using uppers in the 60's and 70's...they didn't get suspended or banned from baseball. Pitchers openly cheated scuffing balls or throwing spitters...none of them got kicked out of baseball. Greg Maddux was rumored to be the all-time scuff king, yet he's going into the HoF with a weak arm and great movement on his ball...surely he wasn't cheating by scuffing the ball all of those years was he? How many batters NEVER got caught with a corked bat? We know a ton have been caught cheating red handed, but they never got tossed out of baseball. BASEBALL, BASEBALL WRITERS and many BASEBALL FANS are Elitist and pick and choose who to vilify and who to lift up on their shoulders based on everything except what happens between the chalk lines.
