January 12, 201412 yr Cuz he's a jerk, that's why. If A-Rod was a more likable person he wouldn't be beat down over this. However people don't like him or his attitude and want to crucify him for every steroid ever used in Baseball. Then his punishment should be just like anyone else that was proven a user. There's no "good guy" clause in the rules.
January 12, 201412 yr Then his punishment should be just like anyone else that was proven a user. There's no "good guy" clause in the rules. I got no problem with his punishment, but others have been caught or admitted to using Steroids and were welcomed back with open arms by most around baseball...Pettitte comes to mind right off the top of my head. Braun was welcomed back like nothing ever happened after he got the guy collecting his sample drug through the mud and won an appeal. Piazza admitted to using androstenedione, saying that he only used "Before" it was banned, yet some are screaming for him to be in the HoF. Ortiz Tested Positive, denied doing it knowingly and gets a pass from everyone. Pudge was outed by Canseco, yet he doesn't drug through the mud. So even though there is no "Good Guy" Clause in the Rules (and there shouldn't be) there sure is one in the court of public opinion.

I'm just wondering why the MLB thinks they can dish out punishments as they see fit when there's a protocol. I'm assuming since the MLBPA hasn't stepped in there must be overwhelming evidence of ARod doing some pretty bad things, PED wise.

January 12, 201412 yr I'm torn. Why is what he did any worse than others that have been caught or proven to use in the past? I thought that he was also being punished for abstracting the investigation as well as suspected PED usage.
January 12, 201412 yr ARod has never tested positive yet he is suspended for 162 games? Utterly stupid. Seems like a winnable lawsuit IMO. And why not just say he is suspended for a year? 162 games? Really?

Really? PP, I've got to believe if he was innocent he would have done just what you mentioned already. I'm sure there is some compelling evidence against him and MANY others associated if he tries to pursue this. You cannot tell me MLB did not know a lot of this was going on and going on for a long time. Do I wish professional sports was squeaky clean? Sure, but with all the money involved and outside influences surrounded by that money you'd be foolish not to think it's going on. It's all about the money and trying to get that "edge" to make it and receive it. So now MLB is trying to put the Genie back in the bottle by "cleaning up the sport", ain't gonna happen.
January 12, 201412 yr Have we seen ARod play his last MLB game? I don't see him walking away from 60 mill
January 12, 201412 yr I don't see him walking away from 60 mill Speculation is the NYY may buy out the remainder of his contract or sue to have it voided.
January 12, 201412 yr Everyone watch 60 Minutes tonight. Tony Bosch is going to be one of the stories. Bosch says he administered 6 different banned substances to A-Rod, which A-Rod denies. A-Rod continues to deny it. In addition, I recall A-Rod interfering with the investigation, or at least trying to. I despise all these cheaters. Baseball messed this whole thing up and the cheaters abused the system every way they could get away with, then they try to claim innocence. Just totally disgusting. People know right and wrong. These players knew they were doing wrong and they did it. They have to live with the consequences.
January 12, 201412 yr Because he'd be eligible for postseason games I suppose. I thought it said he would be ineligible for the postseason. I remember it saying he could attend Spring Training but the Yankees can make him stay home. I'm interested to see how that plays out.
January 12, 201412 yr Have we seen ARod play his last MLB game? I think so. I could see him being blackballed like Canseco.

I think he is guilty as sin. I was just wondering aloud if he has a legit lawsuit since he never tested positive for anything.
