January 7, 201412 yr I think Rose and Jackson for sure. To decide on the others, who had a Hall of Fame career before we believe they started on steroids? Bonds - I see age 35 as roids year 1 for him. Prior to that, he had about 450 HR's and 1300 RBI's. That is borderline HOF #'s. I think he would have ended up at about 530/1550 without roids which with all the other attributes would make him a HOF'er. Clemens - His numbers took a major uptick at age 33. From age 30-32, Clemens didn't throw 200 innings in a season and his innings pitched were declining each year. Suddenly at age 34 he has a 240 inning season. Over the next 9 seasons he averaged over 200 innings pitched with just stupid stats. He had won less than 200 games when roids came along. I am not sure he would have made the HOF without roids. I don't believe he would have won 250 nor would he have made 3000 strikeouts. Sosa - A little tougher to project because his roids use appears to have started at a younger age, around 28, 29. I see him ending with less than 500 HR's and maybe 1300 RBI's. Better than I expected his numbers to look. McGwire - Age 32 looks like roids begin, maybe even age 31. Like a lot of these guys, I think the roids abuse began following injury plagued seasons. McGwire was injured during his age 29 and 30 seasons and only hit 9 HR's each of those years. At age 31 he hits 39. At age 32 he hits 52. Age 33, 58. Age 34, 70. More than half his career HR came after roids and he ended up with 583. Not HOF #'5 without roids IMO. I would probably go with Bonds if I had to pick from this list of roiders.
