Weathermen are in league with Chambers of Commerce; particularly on holidays and weekends. When everybody and their grandmother knows it's gonna pour all weekend, "50-50 chance" is generally what you hear.

Now I know why the weatherman calls it the Kroger's 7 Day Forecast.

I think they should be held responsible for over-hyping threats of bad weather to drive up their ratings and have people scurrying to their basements like lemmings.

 

This is my gripe. I don't know how many times just this winter alone that "could be a major snow producer" & forecasting the 2-4's, the 6-8's…then, nothing.

 

Just say a "chance of snow" that far out, or nothing at all.

Again, they are relying on the models to make their prediction, and the farther out you are, the less accurate you will be. The public though demands predictions and then complain when they are less than perfect. And it doesn't matter what weatherman you watch, the predictions are typically the same because they all use the same models, and no one will go against the grain one way or the other for fear of making a huge mistake. Back in 2001, a famous weatherman in Philly was basically run out of town because he went against the grain and predicted a Storm of the Century that never materialized.

You do understand that weather changes by the minute, right?

Ok here is the forecast, it might be sunny or not, may rain or not, might snow or not. Could be cold if your old and cool if your young. There is a chance of something. Goodnight folks, see you tomorrow night.

I always thought that whatever it does in St Louis 12-24 hours before is a 90% chance what we are gonna get next. See, we could save tons of $ by eliminating useless Doppler radar junk for important research like global warming.

I know one thing, everyone must be bored as heck to let my thread on punishing weather forecasters get to 3 pages. Hahahaha. I say a weather forecaster, lawyer, car salesman, politician are the only jobs you can lie and still keep your job.

9 out of 10 I'm right. So, bingo, I could be the weather man!!!!

Seems a pretty easy fix to me. Don't listen to the weather.

The best weather person used to be a mod on here. He was way more accurate than the tv guys. I can't remember his name but I believe he was from Richmond.
