They have adjusted their forecasts as the tracks have changed. It's unrealistic to expect they can be 100% when Mother Nature is involved. Today's society is so demanding. The weather isn't a computer program. It is a force of nature we can't control. I am glad that we get the opportunity to prepare for the worst. Trust me, it's better than not knowing what to expect and being ill prepared. Some of you are just plain unrealistic....and WEIRD!

Me. They call off basketball games that otherwise could have been played. Practice is still scheduled and it goes on during the day which means now I have to leave work to pick the kid up and get him to practice causing me to have to work on a Sunday to make up time missed that wouldn't have been missed had they played the damn game if they would have gone to school in the first place. Not a lot pisses me off more than overreaction to a couple of snow flurries. This is why northerners laugh at us.

 

Fair enough. Still though, I'd rather be a little inconvenienced by being over prepared than being really put out or worse stranded somewhere because I (and the road crew) wasn't prepared at all.

They can't be perfect but one on Paducah Channel 6 3 years ago gave a chance of 1 inch of snow. That morning he was saying the same thing at 6:55. well it started snowing at 6:00 and by 10:00 we have 4-5 inches. At the 10:25 break on the Today Show he was still claiming 1 inch. He could not admit that he was wrong even after it had happened.

If this is not permited on BGP, then I apologize but it seems that some of the weather guys in Louisville actually get sexuallly excited when they are talking about summer thunderstorms and the dreaded hook echo.

Anybody who has common sense and pays attention to what is going on doesn't need a forecaster to tell them what is going to happen weather wise. Just my opinion. I live life and stay prepared for any situation as soon as I get out of bed. I don't need Chris Bailey to tell me I may need to leave a little earlier for work. I just look out of the window.

Love the weather as well. Students and other faculty are asking me what I think. I have cancelled baseball games before it even has rained a drop and the players would get mad and low and behold about 1-2 hours after school here comes the rain.

So...now that the rain is over, should I go ahead and put my ice melt down or wait till it's all over? It works to -15 and then I have rock salt to put on. I figure that will at least provide traction. I don't want to make a bigger mess.

I also live in a house that has 16 steps from the sidewalk to the front door. I stay prepared as well, but I don't keep a literal ton of supplies on hand. And...since my wreck, I do not have the nerves to try driving in this crap. I can plan to make sure I have everything with me from my office to work from home. You don't have to watch the weather. But don't lambaste the meteorologists. They do the best possible job, IMO.

I may be wrong but it is my assumption meteorologists do very little these days besides read computer generated models that they have nothing to do with.
