I've been out, as a matter of fact I visited the historic 7th street and took in the sights there as well. I'm sure Petrino has been there as well.

Hiring Petrino is a an upgrade in coaching compared to Strong in my opinion, but for UL to settle on Petrino is laughable if they do.

All it reeks of is WIAD aka "Winning is a Drug" and Jurich is snorting a whole line of it.

I would think that Jurich would be better served going after a Chad Morris or someone like that than reuniting with Petrino.

Morris will be the head coach at Florida this time next year. He's made it abundantly clear he wants the job when it comes open. No point in wasting a year on him.

 

I'm of two minds on Petrino and as a fan all I can do is sit back and hope it works out. This hire is more divisive here in town than the Affordable Care Act. Louisville blogger Mark Ennis has been positively apoplectic all evening about this hire. One can hope he's been humbled by his experiences without losing his edge. I don't know if he has.

While some are elated about the prospect of a Petrino hire, I cannot muster up any enthusiasm. I believe in second chances, but I can't help but feel dread on this one. I dream of the day when Louisville is a job that isn't a stepping stone or this point, or a "do over".

I get what you are saying but when has anything above the high school level(in some cases) been done with scruples and when has anyone not been snorting WIAD? I've never felt like any of them have any scruples and I have always felt that it is all about winning. There is a lot of money at play here.

I am a big fan of Bobby P. I think is he an offensive guru. But there are problems with him that are beyond motor cylce rides and looking for the next big job.

 

Bobby was not a good recruiter. Now he was good at developing players but as far as landing top tier talent he didnt.

I've said it 15 times since this whole deal started between here and social networks. Jurich has now interviewed eight candidates. I trust he will hire the right person for the job NOW, and if that is Petrino, then so be it.

I think someone ordered up a giant humble pie and the last step of the discussions is to see if BP can eat the whole thing.

 

My understanding is that the Patrino family - both immediate and extended never moved from Louisville are excited about him 'coming home'. So if that side of equation is settled hopefully BP's professional wild oats have been sewn also. Maybe he is the guy who really 'wants to be here' for multiple reasons. He is not the hot product of 2006.

 

If this goes through many will be skeptical about the long term aspects with good reason. But redemption is an interesting thing when (and if) it really works.
