January 6, 201412 yr I agree, but I have heard he's not real happy with the brass at OKST. If I were Jurich, the first guy I'd contact is James Franklin. I'm not sure he'd be interested, but I think it'd be a step up for him (he'd have a much better shot at a national title at UofL), and the dude can flat out coach. Franklin is who I would throw the bank at but he may be holding out for something bigger plus he is still in play for a few NFL jobs.

January 7, 201412 yr The Bedford talk seems to be going around a lot since he interviewed today. Fair enough. If he gets the job, there's no way Shawn Watson stays on as his OC is there? Knowing you were passed over for the job by the other guy in the program that was interviewed? For all my hate on Shawn Watson, it seems to have become fairly obvious that our lamented coordinator was likely receiving his instructions regarding the slow-paced, clock-controlling offense from the boss himself. I feel like we might have seen the true Watson a couple times, and it was in the bowl games when he really opened things up. Louisville was right at 50/50 on run vs. pass this season but then against Miami we saw Louisville go MUCH heavier on the passing plays. It worked.

MANY,MANY,MANY moons ago the UofL players were strongly in the camp of promoting a coordinator from within when their HC left. 3 years later that coach was fired. It was Bob Weber and from back in my days at UofL. Sorry but player opinion is about the last thing I would consider. I firmly believe that in most cases a successful head football coach has to be a harsh taskmaster. Apparently Strong and Petrino both fit that bill at Louisville, HE WHO SHAN'T BE NAMED who filled the spot between those two wasn't, he was a "players coach". If the players want him my first instinct is that he must not be a hard-nose. We don't need that. I find myself (much to my surprise) in the Petrino camp. If as most say any good coach will only be here for a few years then bring him in, he can coach and will win. We do not need a step back like we took with HE WHO SHAN'T BE NAMED. The fact that he owns UK is icing on the cake. :clap:
