January 5, 201412 yr Card fans should be thrilled if they got Rich Rodriguez from Arizona, but I don't think RR would come to UL. If Louisville has any scruples about them left, they would not hire Petrino, but I would consider that an upgrade in coaching compared to Strong. I would hazard to think UL will go the coordinator route and there are some pretty good names out there. One head coach I would look at would be Mark Hudspeth from La-Lafayette.

January 5, 201412 yr Mike Rutherford @CardChronicle Names you should expect to hear a lot over the next 48 hours: Pat Narduzzi, Rich Rodriguez, Chad Morris, Derek Mason and Bobby Petrino. I could go for any one of those, except for Petrino…only because I want him to stay at WKU. lol Narduzzi would be great. Chad Morris..heck, all of them. Narduzzi in particular. Wonder if there is anyway Kirby Smart comes from Alabama??
January 5, 201412 yr I'd go after James Franklin, too, but I don't know that he would consider Vandy to Louisville a step up, even though it would be as far as a possible National Championship/BCS Bowl. Reports coming out now that he is interviewing with Penn State tomorrow. Word has it he is also interviewing for the Redskins and Browns job.

What Petrino did was open Arkansas up to a pretty insane amount of litigation through his antics, and that should be of real concern to UofL fans. I want all that money UofL is apparently making to be used for coaching salaries and excellent new facilities, not paying off tort liability. I think I'm out of the Petrino camp, but I'm a Louisville fan so I'll be in my seats no matter what.

I'd say most of the fan base at that time felt betrayed by the way he left. I know my daughter (class of 2007) did. I think as much as UofL would know Petrino would once again have success there, it's hard to believe that he has turned a new leaf, come to Jesus, etc.

I think as much as UofL would know Petrino would once again have success there, it's hard to believe that he has turned a new leaf, come to Jesus, etc. The ONLY reason I would even CONSIDER Petrino is because he is a current head coach, and being able to hire a CURRENT head coach could help Louisville become an attractive option in the future to other head coaches when the time came for a new search. Overall, I'm dead set against a Petrino hire. Not because I don't believe in 2nd chances, not because I don't believe he could have changed. I just think we ned to move forwad, not revisit the past.

If he can lure the guy he wants, its a home run.
