I said last night (I think) on Twitter that it wouldn't surprise me at all if none of the names we are hearing are who Jurich hires. Jurich likes to keep that stuff as under wraps as possible.
January 8, 201412 yr I heard on the radio this morning that the UL Athletic Department's Committee for Personnel has scheduled a meeting for Thursday morning, presumably to discuss a new hire. Maybe the new coach can be introduced at the basketball games versus Memphis later that night.
January 8, 201412 yr From a football standpoint it's a great hire IMO, but I don't think this will help make Louisville the destination job Jurich wants it to be. I didn't want Petrino at UK mostly because he's a turd face, but also because he'd have skipped town as soon as a more lucrative position came open (which wouldn't have taken any time). But, as I said, the man can coach football.

Jurich wants someone who will view this as a destination job, he doesn't want to be looking for another coach every 3-4 years. Due to Petrino's demons, there's going to be quite a few programs that will never consider him. I think Jurich feels that Petrino is here to stay this time. :idunno:
January 8, 201412 yr ^ It all comes down to how the transition works going to the ACC. If they were still in the... whatever conference UL is in, then I would agree. They can't go to the ACC though and be just another team.

January 8, 201412 yr Author Nobody got burned by Petrino leaving more than Jurich IMO. If he thinks it's acceptable to bring him back, then that works for me.
January 8, 201412 yr Petrino going to UL is smart for him because he inherits a better team and it's way better than WKU. It's also going to allow him to be in the spotlight for higher tier coaching jobs in the near future, which is probably what he wants anyway.
January 8, 201412 yr An interesting question to ponder: What will Petrino's buyout be? More than Strong's....I'm interested to see what his salary is. I'd guess the yearly salary will be quite a bit lower than what Strong was making.
January 8, 201412 yr I've been out, as a matter of fact I visited the historic 7th street and took in the sights there as well. I'm sure Petrino has been there as well. Historic 7th Street? LOL From sitting at stop lights in front of some of these "historic" locations seeing employees smoking outside, I would say the historic comment applies best to some of the employees at those joints. Holy Cow, do they mix Metamucil in their drinks? Instead of popping Oxy pills do they pop Centrum Silver?
