I will get us started by saying that Highlands will have an excellent starting QB and his backup may wind up being a D1 talent at 6'4" 215 as a sophomore with a very strong arm.

Feggins is realistically the only D-1 prospect on that roster. I understand he is getting a ton of mail from D-1 schools.

But they need somebody to block for them. 1 or 2 kids return in the 2 deep depth chart on the line.

That's the biggest reason that they might get to stay in 4A, travel for them in 3A would be crazy.

 

Highlands would invoke the geographical hardship (assuming it still exist) to opt out of 3A and remain in 4A or even jump to 5A if there are not enough 4A teams close.

QB: Hoge

 

WR: Feggins, Weyer, Vennemann, Whitford

 

DL: Hebel, Mills

 

LB: Schoepf, Pangallo, Murray

 

DB: Abner, Urlage, Martin

 

Not sure who else of the top of my head.

Does there have to be for the team to be successful. I have been hearing how bad the soph class is and the frosh class, but not real sure what the difference is between them and the junior class. Honestly at the end of the day it really does not matter because there will be more than enough good football players for the new coach to choose from and compete for a state title each and every year. May not be as deep as years past, but there are plenty of really good football players still in the program.

 

 

A lot of mention about the juniors and sophomores being down and light on talent but from what I saw this year the skill positions at those levels are in pretty good shape. Two quality QBs in Hoge and Herrgott quote a few quality receivers, partial here but looking forward to watching Cain progress with his soft hands and length, and hopefully a healthy Watson Kendell and Dougherty in the backfield. Dougherty is the punishing north south runner and Watson and Kendell as the fast elusive ones that just need a small seam and their gone. The question mark may be the line but they seem to have done pretty well with the smaller quicker lines in the recent past.

Who coaches the defensive backs?

If it does happen, I think Lewis County, Henry County and Fleming County would be the closest teams. The state athletic governing board should permit successful football programs to play up in class. (I believe State Sen. Katie Stine of Ft. Thomas introduced legislation permitting such several years back, but I don't think her bill got passed in Frankfort.)

 

Mason County is closer than most if not all of these.

Graduated 11 or 12 seniors on the o-line. Kyler Dalton will be the only o-lineman with any real varsity experience.

IMVHO I don't think you could possibly take any pressure off of Highlands to win a State Title. I mean, let's be honest. When was the last time Highlands wasn't a legitimate contender for the title? Ever?
